Kenneth Wayne Oder, 90, of Laramie, Wyoming passed away peacefully on January 27, 2026, surrounded by his family and friends who meant the world to him.
Born in Nowata County, Oklahoma on August 21, 1935, to Frank and “Lizzie” Oder. Kenny was a man who found joy in the simple things. He was best known for his razor-sharp wit, his endless supply of dad jokes, and a lifelong tenderness toward animals. An avid gardener, Kenny had a way of making things grow just as he grew a large and loving family.
Kenny was a dedicated employee of the Union Pacific Railroad, where he worked until his retirement in 1990. In the years that followed, he focused his energy on his true pride and joy, his roles as a father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Steven Oder, David (Kelley) Oder, Kevin (Maria) Oder, and Janet (Darin) Story. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews who will deeply miss the presence of their patriarch.
Kenny is now reunited with the love of his life, Mary “Max” Oder; his beautiful daughter, Karen Carpenter and all of his siblings. As the last of his generation, he held the honor of his family legacy proudly until the very end.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery with Military Honors by the Wyoming Army National Guard and the Laramie Veterans Honor Guard.

I am so sorry for yall’s loss. We will always miss him at spring wind. Rest in peace sweet Ken
Cousins, you are in our thoughts and prayers, Kenny and Maxine were both very special people to Dianna and I. Whenever Kenny was working the rail yard in Pueblo he would without fail visit us in our home in Widefield, Colorado, that was 46 years ago, my how the years have flown by. With deepest sorrow we wish you peace and comfort as you work through dealing with your loss, Gerald R. (Jerry) and Dianna Faulkner.
He was such a sweet man. He always had a smile a twinkle in his eye, and a story.
Darla, we liked to say he had that "look" and his grin when he was trying to tell a story. Going to miss that.
