Eileen Milam passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and close friends after a long and courageous journey with health challenges. She was 73 years old.
Eileen’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother, and an adoring grandmother. Nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her children and grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments, and creating lasting memories together. Her love for her family was unwavering and was evident in everything she did.
Born on October 31, 1952, in Douglas, Wyoming, Eileen graduated from Glenrock High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and Job’s Daughters. She attended Casper College before earning her degree in Special Education from the University of Wyoming in 1976.
Eileen dedicated 33 years to educating children in Albany County School District #1. Beginning her career in 1977, she taught Special Education at Harmony, Valley View, Fox Park, Rock River, and Slade school before moving into the regular classroom, where she inspired generations of students as a 5th- and 6th-grade teacher. She was beloved by her students and respected by their families for her kindness, patience, and unwavering belief that every child deserved the opportunity to succeed. She also taught summer school on numerous occasions and earned her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership in 2000 while continuing to teach. She retired in 2010 because of health concerns but never lost her passion for education or her love for the children whose lives she had touched.
Beyond her family and career, Eileen found great purpose and lifelong friendships through her involvement with P.E.O. Chapter W. She treasured the fellowship, service, and shared commitment to supporting women’s education and opportunities.
In December 1976, Eileen married the love of her life, Mike Milam. Together they shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on family, love, and service while raising their two sons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harvie and Anna Domsalla, and her sister, Cherie Heldt.
Eileen is survived by her devoted husband, Mike; her sons, Dylan (Kelly) Milam and David (Stefanie) Milam; her brother, Harvie Domsalla; her four cherished grandchildren, who were the light of her life; and four nieces and nephews.
Eileen will be remembered for her gentle spirit, generous heart, sense of humor, quiet strength, and the countless lives she touched as a teacher, mentor, friend, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her legacy lives on in her family, in the students she inspired, and in all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Cremation has already taken place. A celebration of Eileen’s life will be held in September, with details to be announced at a later date.
Approximately 70 years ago I met my first very best friend. While most of you know her as Eileen, I only knew her as Skeeter. My Mom wrote in my baby book that we were “inseparable pals”. We lived next door to each other in Glenrock. My Dad and her Dad made a gate between our houses so we could go back and forth easier. We always asked Santa for the same dolls/toys. We had tea parties and constantly played with our dolls. Eileen moved to Laramie to go to college and we lost touch with each other. Some time back Eileen and Mike came to Tucson and I was so very happy to be able to spend some wonderful time with her. We laughed and reminisced . She told me how very proud she was of her sons and I shared how proud I was of my daughter. Dave, my husband, took some pictures of us.which I will always treasure. I am sorry that I did not get to spend time with Mike on that day. My deepest condolences to the Milam family. Fly high my sweet friend….I love you! I hope to see you again in heaven. Eileen interviewed me for my first teaching position in Wyoming. I replaced her as resource teacher at Rock River in 1979. Always wished I could work with her. She was so positive, confident and funny. Sincere condolences to the whole family. God bless you all.

The Wrights, Charlie and David, Brook and Kelly, extend our condolences to Mike, Dylan, and David. We counted the Milam's as our neighbors, and social friends when we lived in Laramie. Since then, we lived in Alaska for eight years, Sheridan for seven, Cheyenne for one, Cody for one, and we now live in Idaho. Charlie lives in Edgewood Eagle Island assisted living, and I live in a Meridian apartment.
Milam Family. Eileen was an awesome teacher and friend. She had a great sense of humor and was very quick witted. I always loved being around her. She could 'tell it like it was' with such humor that brought lots of chuckles. She will be missed by many. Blessings to all of you. I will pray for you.
Milam Family, your wife, mother and teacher was a very special woman indeed. I was fortunate to know her as a teacher who actually cared for and loved the children she taught. My sincerest condolences to the wonderful family of such an amazing woman. She was so much fun and a joy to know. I remember seeing her at Walmart at Christmas time and loading up a cart full of gifts for the less fortunate kids on the Christmas tree lists.
