Edward “Ed” Jacob Bouse, a man of skillful hands and a protective heart, passed away on December 29, 2025, at Ivinson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyoming—the very same place his journey began on January 25, 1953. A lifelong resident of Laramie, Ed was deeply rooted in the community he served and proud to call the Wyoming landscape his home.
Ed was the son of Maxine Rosser Rosellen and Jacob Edison Bouse. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older sister, Penny Rosellen Bouse. Throughout his life, Ed carried with him the lessons and love of his Grandma and Grandpa Rosser, with whom he shared an especially cherished bond.
Ed, a talented handyman, possessed a patience and mechanical aptitude that were legendary. He famously maintained his 1987 Toyota for over three decades, keeping it running through sheer dedication. His passions were many: from the adrenaline of stock car racing to his beloved Harley, which he tinkered on with his longtime friend Jim Vialpando. He was also a familiar face at regional gun shows and a dedicated gun enthusiast.
Ed found great joy in life’s simple moments and the company of good friends. He especially enjoyed traveling to Cheyenne with his dear friend, Karla, to share a meal at the Bread Basket. He also found peace in the quiet patience of fishing, building model planes, watching trains roll by, or simply heading out to the water to enjoy the beauty of the outdoors.
A natural jokester, Ed was always ready with a laugh to lighten a heavy mood. When life grew complicated, he could diffuse any situation with his iconic catchphrase: “We’re all here because we’re not all there.”
For over twenty years, Ed was a fixture of the Albany County School District. As the Head of Maintenance, he was far more than a technician; he was a silent guardian. Ed took immense pride in ensuring that the schools were safe havens for students and staff alike, quietly working behind the scenes to protect the well-being of everyone who walked the halls.
Ed’s kindness extended to all living things. His yard was a sanctuary for rabbits, squirrels, and birds, and he never turned away a stray cat in need. This shared love for animals was a cornerstone of his life with his wife, Amy Marie Bouse. They married in 2012, spending their retirement years immersed in home and garden projects and doting on their dogs, Izzy and Opus.
While Ed never had biological children, he stepped into the role of stepfather with humor and heart. He was adored by his stepchildren, Ryan and Kyrie Kiser, and his grandchildren, Taylee, Dylan, and Aryelle.
Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Amy, on February 18, 2025. While his family mourns the loss of a resilient and humorous soul, they find peace knowing he is finally reunited with her in Heaven.

I worked with Ed for almost thirty years in ACSD#1. Every time I met Ed, he always had a smile and a story to tell. Our deepest sympathy to you all at this time. So sorry for your loss.
RIP Ed
