Forever in Our Hearts
Ecclesiastes 3
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.”
In loving memory of our Daughter, Wife, Mom, Grandma, and Best Friend
Vickie Lynne Scott
Mayfield / Honey, Vick, Mom, Foxy / Everyone’s Best Friend
March 12, 1953 – May 10, 2026
Vickie Lynne Scott, a lifelong resident of Medicine Bow, Wyoming, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Laramie, Wyoming, on March 12, 1953, to Harold and Pearl Mayfield.
After graduating from Medicine Bow High School, Vickie attended Casper College and went on to build a life centered around hard work, creativity, compassion, and family. Throughout the years, she worked as a business owner and school cook, but the roles she treasured most were those of wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Family was truly the heart of Vickie’s life. She married the love of her life, Vernon Scott, on November 23, 1974, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to their family. Together they raised two sons and later welcomed eleven grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren, all of whom brought endless joy to her life.
Vickie had a spirit that was impossible to forget. She loved reading, gardening, writing, drawing, cooking, storytelling, and interior design. She had an incredible imagination and creativity that made ordinary moments feel special. Her home was always full of warmth, laughter, good food, and open doors. Whether it was Sunday dinners, birthdays, holidays, sporting events, or simple evenings spent together, Vickie made everyone feel safe, welcome, and loved.
She was the kind of person who remembered the little things, checked in on people when they needed it most, and gave endlessly of herself without expecting anything in return. Anyone who knew Vickie, whether family, friend, neighbor, or employee, knew what it felt like to be genuinely cared for by her. She had a rare gift for making people feel important, valued, and deeply loved.
Vickie also had an adventurous soul and a deep appreciation for life’s simple beauty. She loved riding horses, especially her beloved horse Shadow, and enjoyed every opportunity to ride her motorcycle. Some of her happiest moments were spent making memories with her grandchildren; playing in the river, laughing under the stars, staying up late on trampolines, telling stories, and simply enjoying time together. She loved flowers, clouds, stars, animals of every kind, and the beauty she found in everyday life.
To know Vickie was to know unconditional love, fierce loyalty, strength, creativity, and kindness. She was truly amazing, and the impact she leaves behind will continue to live on through every person fortunate enough to have known her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Mayfield, and her brother, Jim Mayfield.
Vickie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Vernon Scott; her sons, Zackery Scott (Stephanie) and former wife Renee, and Joshua Scott (Teira); her beloved grandchildren Aaron (Ethan), Brandon (Hannah), Taylar, Avery, Addison, Noah, Aiden, Declan, Liam, Demaryius, and Embree; her cherished great-grandchildren Sophia, Quinn, and Asher; her mother, Pearl Mayfield; her siblings Susan, Debbie, Peggy, Lorie, and Michael; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and lifelong friends.
The family would especially like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Peggy for her kindness, patience, and devoted care.
Services will be held at a later date. Until then, the family invites everyone who knew and loved Vickie to honor her memory in their own way and keep her close in their hearts.
In Vickie’s honor, the family encourages others to spend time with loved ones, share a meal, lend a listening ear, or help someone in need — the same way she always did.
“At the end of the day, if we do not stand together — we die alone. May your life be full and surrounded by your family and friends.”
— Vickie Scott
A Celebration of Life will be held for Vickie on Friday, June 5th at 4:00 p.m. at the Medicine Bow Community Hall.

A great lady. My condolences.
If there is one thing that comes to mind when I think of Vickie, it is her love for family. I feel truly blessed to have known such an amazing woman. She was not only the grandmother of our children, but she also became like a second mother to me and one of my best friends. I could always talk to her, ask for her advice, and count on her for comfort and wisdom. She never turned me away and always had thoughtful, helpful answers. She was there for us through so many important moments in life — from the births of our children to all the years that followed. She was someone you could always depend on. I will never forget the Sunday dinners, the holiday traditions, the stories she shared — and she had some great ones — the shapes we found in the clouds, and the trips we took together. She was one of the strongest and most selfless women I have ever known, someone who would truly give the shirt off her back to help another person. We shared so many of the same interests — antiques, flowers, gardening, cooking, crafts, and so much more. I learned countless things from her. It is only natural that people try to follow her example because of the way she treated others and the kindness she carried everywhere she went. Her love and compassion were contagious. I could go on and on, but so many others have already shared similar memories of the incredible person she was. I miss you so much and will always hold onto the beautiful memories we shared. Rest in peace. May God bless and keep you always.
Scott family, your mom was one of the best friends and boss and neighbor that I have ever known, or will probably ever know, one of a kind. She took me and my boys in so many years back gave us a place to stay and a job and really a new start on life. Many of life's she has touched over the years. And your dad as well. God bless your family truly is a big loss in alot of lives.
