Paul D. Montgomery, 55, passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2026. He was born on August 26, 1970 to Dave and Kathryn (Unrein) Montgomery, in Boulder, CO. He was raised in Sterling, CO.

After high school Paul had various ranch hand jobs in different locations.  He decided that he wanted a steady career and landed a job with Barnard Construction in May 1996.  Paul was a positive influence on all who knew him in the industry.  He spent 30 years sharing his construction and pipeline knowledge and leadership in Barnard’s various projects.

Paul was a very passionate cowboy.  He lived his life surrounded by any aspect of ranching and rodeo.  He attended any rodeo he could and followed his children to numerous.  If he wasn’t in attendance, he would watch it on the Cowboy Channel.  Paul was a very generous, kind, loving man.  He was a good friend to many, and you were only a stranger once.

Paul is survived by his wife, Tori Montgomery; parents, Dave Montgomery and Kathryn Kruger; brother, John (Carrie) Montgomery; brother, Eli Kruger; children, Payton Evans, Coy Montgomery, Sara Montgomery, Cody Montgomery, Shea Montgomery; and stepchildren, Trevyn Beard, Tayler Acheson, and Brenden Acheson; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; maternal grandparents; brother, Matthew Montgomery; and sister, Angela Hill.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. August 1, 2026 at the Montgomery residence, 2765 N 15^th Road, Worden, MT, with a reception immediately following.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Paul Montgomery Memorial Fund at the Stockman Bank in Worden, MT. This fund will be used to provide rodeo scholarships in Paul’s name.
