I met Clifford 15 years ago after a 3:00 a.m. phone call from a mutual friend calling me to see about making a dog grooming appointment for him. Since he was there with her, and I wasnt busy, I talked with him and we made the appointment and then all three of us cracked up about how we were doing this at such an ungodly hour. If you're a night owl, you get a kick out of how normal daily things become such funny things when done late at night, so we were instant friends for understanding this. The morning of our first appointment, Clifford had to cancel last minute—but he left an envelope with a handwritten note and full payment at my work, just because he felt bad for rescheduling. In it he said, "I don't think I'll ever find another groomer who gets my weird hours! Not one that I can call on at3 am! Please, forgive me!" Which of course I did. But who does that? A gentleman, that’s who. I still have that letter. It really meant a lot to me especially when I was still so new to grooming. We had a great working relationship and shared an affinity for humor, late-night productivity, and being just weird enough to raise eyebrows. Plus we had a love for dogs. He loved his little Maggie sooo much, and she loved him too. He was not only a thoughtful soul, but also quirky, sharp, kind, and funny in all the ways most people don’t fully appreciate—but I’m grateful to say I was someone who did. He was a good man with a good heart. I always thought highly of him. I'm really sad to hear of his passing, and I’ll miss him. Rest easy, old friend.

Goodbye old friend. Thank you for teaching me how to use a chainsaw. We had a lot of good years sharing stories, music and hamburgers. RIP, John Williams

I'll say goodbye to someone I met many years ago and can call a friend. Our paths crossed briefly and I will remember each time they have. RIP Kenny Lankford
