Harvey John Allred

Harvey J. Allred passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 7, 2025, at the age of 70. Harvey was born on October 19, 1954, in Bountiful, UT to Lynn & Joy Allred. At the age of 6 the family moved to Las Vegas, NV. After graduating high school, Harvey worked construction and at the Nevada Test Site.

In December of 1981, Harvey met Debbie on a blind date, they married June 5, 1982. In August of 1982, they moved to the Joe Miller Ranch just outside of Laramie, where they spent 10 years and welcomed two sons, John and Ryan. In 1992, the family left the ranch and moved into Laramie. Harvey went to work for Hamaker Excavation in November 1992 where he worked until his passing. He was lucky in the fact that he enjoyed his job and thought of the Hamaker Family as part of his own.

Throughout the years, Harvey was a devoted father. Together with teaching the boys hunting, fishing, shooting, driving, Harvey coached the boys in hockey. He couldn’t skate, but he kept at it until he could finally get around the rink slowly. These years were special to him, and he cherished every moment.      That is until the grandkids came along, with them there were new moments to cherish and memories to be made with Jenna (14), Maverick (8) and Jace (8 months). Fast forward, he was especially proud of the men John and Ryan have become.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debbie, son John (Amanda), son Ryan, grandkids Jenna, Maverick, Jace, his sister Kathy McLaughlin and Diane (Richard) Burkett, Grandma Judy (Judy Tharp), his favorite mother-in-law, and many more aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his mom and dad, Lynn & Joy Allred and brother-in-law Dennis McLaughlin.

We will miss his quick wit, elaborate stories (real or not) and his appropriate and not so appropriate jokes. Harvey never met anyone he wouldn’t help. Please join us for a celebration of Harvey’s life on June 29, 2025, at our home, 84 Antelope Ridge Loop, Laramie, 12-4:00 p.m. No services, just family and friends gathering for good food, cold drinks, and a Harvey story or joke.

Debbie and family, so sad to read this but can’t help but have bittersweet memories of Harv bringing smiles to all in The Feed Store when I worked there. And of course when Ryan was playing hockey up here Harv gave us pointers on hockey. I’ll be thinking of you in the days to come. Kris Hufty

Debbie and family, I am so saddened to hear of Harv’s passing. He was such a great guy to me and my whole family. When I would run into him being a parts store or anywhere else, he would always tell me a story about the Miller Ranch then tell a good joke! He will be missed! Heaven just got a great man! My condolences.
