At her request, cremation has taken place for Virginia Susan Alm (Ginny) 77, who died September 16, 2024. She was born February 11, 1947, in Laramie, to Amanda Otero (Moore) and Edwin John Alm. She was raised and schooled in Laramie and was proud of the fact that she was a Wyoming and Laramie native and that she was part of the graduating class of 1965 from Laramie High School.
She married James Bruce Bonner in 1971. They moved to Osakis, Minnesota in 1972 where she lived for 11 years. Virginia and Jim had one son, DuBochett (Dubie). In 1983, she decided to return to her roots and moved back to Laramie and began employment at the University of Wyoming in August as a secretary. She retired from UW after many years of employment in the Colleges of Engineering and Agriculture. She loved animals, especially dogs and horses, doing anything outdoors, cooking, baking, and thoroughly enjoyed working in the yard, which she considered calming and therapeutic.
She is survived by her son, Dubie Bonner, granddaughters McKenzie Peyton and Jaycee Jordan, sisters Betty Harnden, MaryAnn Lobato of Fort Collins, Colorado, Cheryl McWilliams and her husband Grant of Laramie, her brother David and his wife Ina of Cheyenne, Wyoming, sisters-in-law Shirley of Denver, Colorado and Holly of Grand Junction, Colorado, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Amanda, her sister Charlotte Ware, brothers Edward and Johnny, and her brothers-in-law John Lobato and Floyd Harnden and her nephew Russel Alm.
Graveside services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 20th, 2024, at Greenhill Cemetery in Laramie, Wyoming.
I just learned of Ginny’s passing today, and I’m struggling to process it. Cheryl, Betty, and all the family, I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you all. Since we moved to Colorado 5 years ago, I haven’t touched base with her at all , although I have been thinking a lot about her these last few months. May the Lord be with you as you navigate this new journey.
I am shocked to hear of Ginny passing. I don't get the paper and I just read it. I'm so very sorry for your loss. My prayers are with all of the family, the loss of a loved one leaves such emptiness! I know she would have been greeted be her mommy and dad, and the rest of the family. Such great memories of all of our childhood together and your family! May our Lord give his strength and peace to you all at this time!
Alm Family, Am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Virginia. My deepest condolence. Patsy Hidalgo
Our condolences for Ginny's family. She was a childhood friend growing up in the same neighborhood as me. We loved playing hide and seek and other games with our neighborhood gang. Our mothers were best friends and shared cooking together and other activities. Cheryl, Maryanne, Betty, our love to all of you. Larry and VirJean Caudillo
Ginny and I have been friends since grade school. We had many, many good times, along with my cousin, Donna. While distance kept us from visiting often, each time we saw one another or talked on the phone, it was as if no time had passed. I will miss you, my friend and look forward to the time we will meet again.
So sorry to hear about Ginny Sue. We had so many great times together bowling, dancing, just spending time together. She will be missed. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Rudy and Judi Mondragon
I’m sure missing my new friend who seemed like an old friend.. We didn’t have nearly enough time together but the visits, laughter, cups of tea, rants and raves were top notch. Ride on to your heavenly campsite, Cowgirl! ♥️ Your friend, Joy
Cheryl and Family, My heart goes out to you. Cheryl, I know you were the one there to take care of your sister in her declining years. Take the good memories of Ginny and tuck them into your hearts. Peace be with the Alm Family and all who knew Ginny. Dixie Burch and JD McKinsey
