Timothy William Sheen

Timothy William Sheen 59, a lifelong resident of Laramie, passed away on February 18, 2022 at home with the support and love of his family, after a long and courageous battle with colon cancer.

Arriving 6 weeks early and weighing 4 pounds. Tim was born on March 4, 1962 to Beverly and Claris Sheen. He spent his first weeks in an incubator before arriving home and starting an idyllic childhood filled with fun and adventure. As a child, Tim was described as; onery, social, and rambunctious, traits he demonstrated his whole life. He spent many hours with his family vacationing, and enjoying many outdoor activities, including; camping, skiing, snowmobiling, and his lifelong passions of hunting and roping.

Tim attended local schools and graduated from LHS in 1981. He participated in wrestling, Lil Britches Rodeo, 4-H, and FFA. He was on the welding team, livestock and dairy judging teams. He raised sheep, pigs, and champion dairy cows.

He married his high school sweetheart, and love of his life Shawn (Rigg) March 26 1983. They started a family together having two sons, Kyle (Sara) and Tracy (Joni) and shared their love of hunting, roping and the outdoors. Instilling in them the values of the western way of life. Together they achieved their dream of owning their own place outside of town and building a roping arena which he loved to share with friends and family.

Starting at age 5, Tim’s favorite place to be was at the Sheen family cabin, where he could be found on any free weekend with many family members. Later on he, Shawn and their boys, took on the remodeling, maintenance and hosting of the annual hunting camps. In the years during his illness he found great peace and comfort in the restorative solitude of his mountain home.

Tim was never afraid of hard work, starting with a paper route at 10, owning his own skid steer business in high school and helping his soon to be in-laws, Ron and Danna Rigg, build a home. After graduation he began a career at Monolith Cement/Mountain Cement that lasted 38 years, starting as a laborer and working his way up to Maintenance Supervisor. He treasured the lasting friendships and brotherhood he found with his co-workers.

One of Tim’s greatest joys were his grandchildren and the time he was able to spend with them, helping with 4-H animals, their participation in youth rodeo, and teaching them to love riding using his own much loved horse Nip. It was a goal he was able to meet, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Tim was humbled and grateful for the love, laughter and spiritual support shown to him during his illness by his many friends, especially Don Barnes.

The family would like to thank, Dr. Graham, Dr. Lieu, Amy Smith, Tom Witkop, the staff at IMH, the Cancer Center, Quality IV, Hospice, the ladies of Laramie Valley Chapel, and Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home.

In lieu of Flowers, please donate in honor of Tim’s memory in his name to the IMH Cancer Center of Laramie at 255 N 30th St, Laramie Wy 82070.

Tim is survived by his wife Shawn (Rigg) Sheen, Sons, Kyle (Sara) Sheen, Tracy (Joni) Sheen, grandchildren Sadie Sheen (Kyle), Tucker and Mady Sheen, (Tracy), sister Lianne (Tony) Kupilik, In-laws, Ron and Danna Rigg, sister in-laws, Dawn Stroh, Fawn (Brad) Benson. Dear Shawn, Traci, and Kyle, Your family has been the cornerstone of our community in Gramm, and Tim was so generous with his time, advice, and consideration. He gave us water when we were running low, and was a font of stories about the forest and the people who had lived here. His funniest story was about intermittent bear problems, and the summer one bear took hummingbird feeders and lay on the picnic table to drink the syrup. If I remember correctly. he even stayed at his cabin as long as he could to help put out fires caused by embers from the Badger Creek fire in 2018. You are in our thoughts and hopes for the future, that your children will continue to love and care for this place as much as Tim did. Burke Grandjean and Patricia Taylor

My Father starting hunting with Tim and his family in the early 1970's The Sheen's were the iconic masters of the Grahmn-Illnois-creek-Foxpark area! Tim proved what a skilled hunter he was and passed on his love for the Mountains to his Son's much like his Father did for him! Tim was a enjoyable person to do business with at Mountain Cement. He knew every inch of that plant. Tim gave me inspiration with my own battle with cancer and gave me inner strength to cope with the battle. Happy to call you my friend, May you rest in peace my dear Friend!!
