James “Jim” Johnson, age 79, of Laramie Wyoming left us to be with his Savior on Thursday, October 30th, 2025. He passed peacefully, at home after a long struggle with diabetes and mobility issues. He was born June 16th,1946 in Laramie, Wyoming to Leonard and Doris (Russell) Johnson. He grew up on the family ranch near Laramie and graduated from Laramie High School in 1964. He later married his sweetheart Deanna Stickley with whom he had three sons and built their life in Laramie.
Jim enlisted in the Army National Guard where he served for 4 years. He worked as a house painter for Swenson Painting and later operated his own painting contracting business. He also worked for the University of Wyoming in the Physical Plant where he retired after many decades. His wife Deanna kept him busy, in his later years, helping operate their quilt shop.
Jim was a genuine person and was liked by anyone that got to know him. He volunteered his time as an amateur radio operator in various bike races and spent a lot of time talking to people from all over the world. After retiring he took great pride in being a summer campground host at Horsetooth Reservoir. He spent those summers camping with his two grandsons, Jameson and Dawson, who were everything to him. Jim will be deeply missed by those close to him.
Jim was proceeded in death by his wife and parents. He is survived by his three sons Jon, Aaron, and Charles (Robin), his two grandsons Jameson and Dawson, his two brothers Andrew (Linda) Johnson and Mark (Margy) Johnson as well as various cousins, nieces and nephews.
No memorial services will be held as per his wish.

Sympathy for the members of Jim Johnson. He was a very nice man, and great painter. He painted our house, which Dean Attebery built in l987-88. He and Dean had a fun relationship.
I miss running into Jim now and then. We were able to have him for dinner after Deanna passed and our conversation that night made me so aware of his feelings and the devotion he felt for her. He was a good man. Rest in peace Jim.
I want the family to know you have my sympathy! I didn’t know Jim, but I do know much of this family and know all of you are special thus I want you to know I’m thinking about all of you!
Jim was one of the nicest guys I have known. We lived across the street from each other for some time and would run into each other to catch up on the latest happenings. A good friend who will be sorely missed! RIP E.J. McDonald
