James “Jim” A. Timm was born on December 12, 1939, in Scranton, North Dakota, to Frank and Evangeline Timm. Surrounded by his loving family, he passed away on April 11, 2026, going home to be with the Lord and to reunite with his beloved wife.
In his younger years, Jim enjoyed getting into mischief with his brothers and sisters, creating memories he would cherish for a lifetime. He took great pride in his first job, earning 25 cents an hour by setting pins at a local bowling alley.
With a strong sense of duty, Jim enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during a tour in Germany. He often spoke fondly of his time in service, but returned home to care for his ailing father—a reflection of his deep devotion to family.
During this time, he met the love of his life, Linda L. Klein. Together, they built a life centered on love and family, raising five children: Louann, Curtis, Monte, Betty Buckman, and Susan Snooks. Jim was a devoted husband and father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family, yet never missed an opportunity to support his children in their activities.
Becoming a grandfather brought Jim his greatest joy. As “Papa,” he treasured every moment with Alex and Masson Buckman; David, Allen, and Neveah Snooks, forming special and lasting bonds with each of them. In 2019, he proudly became a great-grandfather to Andrew and Nova Snooks, who lovingly called him “Poppy”—a title he cherished deeply.
In addition to his dedication to family, Jim was a skilled and respected plumber. He took great pride in serving the Laramie community and mentoring others in his trade. He continued working until the age of 82 at DOE Plumbing, where he valued not only the work but also the friendships, laughter, and camaraderie he shared with colleagues who became like family.
He is survived by his children, grandchildren; great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Priscilla Timm; brother-in-law, Milton (Marie) Klein, along with many niece and nephews, cousins and extended family.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Louann; his granddaughter, Ashleigh Buckman; and several beloved relatives who were there to welcome him into heaven.
We invite everyone to join us to celebrate the amazing life of Jim at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026 at New Life Church, 32296 US-30 Laramie, WY with Pastor Matt Baumgartner officiating. Military Honors by the Wyoming Army National Guard and the Laramie Veterans Honor Guard.
