Genie May Miller

Genie May Miller, 86, passed away peacefully in her home in Laramie surrounded by her loved ones on 6 June 2023.

Born to Lawrence Audra Wintermote and Eugenia May (Wall) Wintermote on 17 December 1936 in Casper, Wyoming, She is survived by her three children, Gerald (Debbie) and Steven (Jerd) from Laramie, and Shane Jepson (Brent) from Powell. She was also survived by brother Gene Wintermote from Shoshoni, grandchildren Jake Miller, Holly Bray, Zak Miller, Colin and Morgan Jepson, and Ploy Inthranuruk and 11 great grandchildren. She was a proud aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Genie was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 63 years Harold Lloyd Miller, and brother Varnard (Red) Wintermote.

Genie spent her early years on their ranch on Poison Spider and their family homestead on the Sweetwater River in the Red Desert, attending schools in Lander, Morton and eventually Riverton, where she was graduated from High School in 1954. She worked as a service manager for Sears for many years and later in the food service department at CWC.

She went back to school at Central Wyoming College where she earned her Associate Degree in Business in 1997. She enjoyed learning new things and took every art class that CWC had to offer and was an accomplished artist in sculpture, drawing, painting, stained-glass and metal work. She also took classes in guitar and was self-taught in playing the hammer-dulcimer. She will forever be remembered for making treasured quilts for every child, grandchild, great grandchild, births, and special occasions. Genie loved to travel and visited Australia, Mexico, Italy and many places in Canada and the United States.

Most of all Genie lived for family, real and extended, and will be greatly missed by family members, and the many friends and people that were touched by her life.

Genie will be celebrated at a memorial service at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home at 1:00 on 16 June 2023, with a reception to follow at Washington Park Shelter #1 in Laramie.
