The City of Laramie and Denis’s family will be dedicating a bench and plaque in honor of Denis K. Smith’s public service as the City’s longest employee ever at 45 years, 4 months and 1 day. The dedication will take place on Saturday, July 11 at 4:00 P.M. on the Laramie River Greenbelt Trail. The closest access to the bench is via the north end of the trail requiring an eight-to-ten-minute walk from the Curtis Street access point.

Denis was an avid fisherman. He was active with the ALCO Rod and Gun club including being President. He enjoyed playing softball and doing the daily crossword puzzle. Denis was a quiet man who generously donated to more than 30 charities never seeking recognition which is consistent with his public service to the citizens of Laramie. All who knew Denis are invited to attend.
