David “Dave” Harold Brown, 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 6th 2026. David was born on June 7, 1945, in Portsmouth, Ohio, the closest hospital to his childhood home in Greenup, Kentucky. He was the son of Thurston and Faytha Brown, who came from a long line of Kentucky farmers.
During his childhood, David and his two younger brothers, Kenneth and Ronald, moved with their parents to Columbus, Ohio, where he attended middle and high school. At the young age of 18, David followed his first wife, Connie Brewer, and her father west in search of work and opportunity.
David began working in the timber industry, living and working in several places including Cowdrey and Fort Collins, Colorado, before eventually settling in Laramie, Wyoming, which he would proudly call home for the rest of his life. He worked as a saw filer for Brandt and Wickland Forest Products for nearly 25 years until the company closed in the late 1980s. Afterward, he operated a small sawmill in Casper, Wyoming, before returning to Laramie, where he worked as a maintenance man for 2020 Grand Corporation until his retirement.
Shortly after retiring, David lost his vision, which changed the plans he and his wife had to travel together. Despite this challenge, he remained positive and continued enjoying many of the things he loved.
In his younger years, David had a passion for fast cars and motorcycles. Later in life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and bowling. One of his favorite pastimes was watching old Westerns, and even after losing his vision he could still identify many actors simply by hearing their voices.
David was well known as quite the “horse trader.” He loved wheeling and dealing and was always working a trade involving cars, motorcycles, guns, tools, or just about anything else someone might offer. He was also famous for his tall tales and storytelling. David never met a stranger and had a natural ability to strike up conversations with anyone he met. Above all, he loved spending time with family and enjoyed joking and horsing around with his kids, grandkids, and friends.
In 1973, David married the love of his life, Linda Easton. Together they built a beautiful family and a life they were proud of on their small property west of Laramie, a place David especially cherished.
David is survived by his wife, Linda Brown; and his children, Tammy Kennedy (Kelly) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Kevin Easton (Diana) of Laramie, Wyoming; Cody Brown (Chrystal) of Clarksville, Tennessee; Keri Hogan of Laramie, Wyoming; and Keith Brown (Sandra) of Laramie, Wyoming. His Brother Kenneth “Kenny” Brown (Gloria) of Chesterfield VA. He was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thurston and Faytha Brown; his brother, Ronald Brown; his daughter, Cathy Brown; his granddaughter, Juanita Brown; and his grandson, Manuel Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home in Laramie, Wyoming, followed by a graveside service at Greenhill Cemetery. Following the service, all are welcome to attend a social gathering at Harvest Church, 2535 Harvest Drive, Laramie, WY 82070.
David will be remembered for his stories, his humor, his love of family, and the countless friendships he made throughout his life.

David was such a kind and caring soul, I’m thankful I got to meet him and know him. My deepest condolences for his family at this time.
Kevin and Diana, I am so sorry to hear about your dad's passing. I feel like I knew him from the stories Diana would tell me. May you and your family find peace and comfort in the memories you all share.
Kenneth and Gloria Brown.
May our Lord bless and comfort you and the family during this time of grief. I am praying for you to get through this time with the peace that comes from the knowledge that God loves you and that He will take care of you. May the cherished memories of David bring you comfort in this time of sorrow, knowing that all suffering is no more. Matthew 5:4 - Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. John 16:22 - So also you have sorrow now, but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. Romans 8:18 - For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. Rest in Peace David. With our Deepest Sincere Condolences - Dan & Christina Goddard
