The Man, the Myth, the Legend, Brian E. Nelson, passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023, at the age of 59. He was born September 30, 1963, to Stanley and Marguerite (Taylor) Nelson in Laramie, WY.
He was born and raised in Laramie Wyoming. He graduated from Laramie High School in 1982.
Brian married Nicole R. Smith on June 27, 1999, in Laramie and together they built an amazing family. He loved all his children with all of his heart; his first son Zachary Nelson (now age 33 whose mother is Marilyn Johnson, Brian’s first wife) and his son Tyler Nelson (now age 20) and daughter Hollie Nelson (now age 17). He would move heaven and earth to do anything for his children. They had the most amazing father who set a great example for what and how a father should be.
After a brief stint in Daytona Florida after graduation, Brian moved back to Laramie Wyoming. He worked for Summit Structures for many years, then started his own construction company, BNN Construction around 2015. The past three years he worked for WyoTech in the Physical Plant Department. He excelled in every job and with each career change he made. He was extremely happy at WyoTech and always mentioned how he felt appreciated and fulfilled in his role at the school, whether building an addition on a building or doing maintenance work on the student housing complex.
Brian was an avid fisherman and hunter. He LOVED his music – every genre you can imagine. If you ever rode in a vehicle with him, sat in his shop or out on his patio you would hear more music than all the radio stations combined, and it was never quiet! He had enough music on his playlist to be able to drive across the country and back at least four times without hearing the same song twice. He enjoyed having fun with everyone and welcomed anyone who appreciated a good time, pranks, and his instigating tactics. Even though Brian was cantankerous and liked to joke around, he was also a kind man. One that would help anyone anytime without question. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the NRA.
Brian was preceded in death by his parents; and his dogs, Beaux and Max that he loved so much and cannot be left out of his story.
He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Nicole Nelson of Laramie, children: Zachary (Erika) Nelson and his grand-dog Bindi of Jackson, Tyler and Hollie Nelson of Laramie, siblings: Debbie Goldstein, Kevin Nelson and Erin French as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2023, at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, 126 E. Lyons St. Laramie, WY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Brian Nelson Memorial Fund account #62269 at Stage Point Federal Credit Union.

My fondest memories are of you taking me into the wilderness of Wyoming, where we fished on floating rafts in secret lakes, where you taught me to shoot, and ride motorcycles, and threw me around in trucks. Dear Uncle Brian, Their are no words to express how sorry I am at your passing and for Nicki and the kids. I have fond memories of you growing up you always teased me and would pull pranks. I may not have enjoyed them as a kid but now as an adult they are some of my funny memories of my childhood!! You are a kind man who would do anything you could for family and friends!
