October 11, 1949 – March 24, 2026
Bobbie Laura (Walker) Smith made her heavenly journey home on March 24, 2026, in Laramie, Wyoming. She was born on October 11, 1949, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Robert C. and Florence Walker.
A 1967 graduate of Las Animas High School, Bobbie pursued a career as a cosmetologist after graduating from Lamar Community College. She married Zeno Smith on November 1, 1969. Together they built a life and a family, welcoming their daughter, Lauri, in 1970 and their son, Casey, in 1976.
Bobbie spent many years as a dedicated ranch wife, but her desire to serve others led her back to the classroom once her children were grown. After earning her teaching degree from Adams State College in 2006, she shared her knowledge and heart as an educator at Las Animas High School and the Bent County Correctional Facility. Upon retiring, she moved to Laramie, Wyoming, to be near her daughter and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was there that she spent her final years doing what she loved most: camping and finding peace in her cherished mountains.
Bobbie loved to square-dance and spent many years coaching Las Animas High School students in preparation for the annual Santa Fe Trail Day square dance competition with her teams taking home several 1st place wins.
Bobbie was a devoted educator, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest joy was being present in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of strength and devotion.
She is survived by her daughter, Lauri (Jeff) Boxley of Laramie, WY; her son, Casey (Candace) Smith of Washington; brother Kip (Patti) Walker of Alamosa, CO, and sisters-in-law, Bertha Gustin of Graham, TX, and Mary Ann Smith of Colony, KS. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Kyle (Madison) Root of Johnstown, CO; Makayla Guzman of Laramie, WY; Richard Lynch of Pueblo, CO; Dusti (CJ) Culbertson of Denver, CO; Kendrick Boxley of Laramie, WY; and Bree, Tyler, and Isabella Smith of Washington. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Julianna, Karter, William, Ricky, and Sophia, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Zeno; her parents, Robert and Florence Walker; her parents-in-law, William and Mary Ellen Smith; and her brothers-in-law, John and George Smith and Jerry Gustin.
