Bertha “Lee” Allen

Bertha LEE Allen was brought into this world by Dr. Don and Ruth Allen September 25, 1956.  She and her two brothers, John (entered Glory in 2012) and Brian (of La Crescent, MN) were raised in Laramie and grew up helping Don (Doc) with his veterinary business.  This brought Lee to become a lover of animals.  Moreso than animals, Lee loved people.  She wanted to apply her mathematically driven brain to healing people.  After graduating from Laramie High School in 1975, she attended the University of Wyoming and obtained her B.S. in microbiology then gained her Master’s Degree at Northern Arizona University.  Afterward, she spent some time in South Dakota serving as a microbiologist for the State Veterinary Laboratory.

During the time Lee was away from her family she witnessed several events of people being cruel to other people.  Her passion for protecting the underdog drove her to speak up to bullies.  As her Christian faith grew, Lee learned how to effectively speak love to people and lead them with kindness.  Lee eventually found her niche working with people with developmental disabilities.  She worked as a case manager for various organizations in and around Wyoming, eventually landing in Cheyenne and becoming an independent case manager for many participants in the waiver program.  Her passion for the participants she worked with led her to advocate for their rights as humans.  She, along with a few other case managers stood firm against organizations that considered these people as nothing more than monetary gain.  Thanks to the efforts of Lee and her friends (and others), eyes were opened and great changes were made in our community.

Lee had always worked diligently on whatever task was at hand and often had many irons in the fire.  Her passion for people drove her to want to do more than help them physically.  She wanted to encourage and guide them spiritually.  While she loved people, Christ was her main passion.  She strived to share that passion with anyone that would allow her the opportunity to do so.  Lee attended an online seminary school and eventually earned a certificate of ministry from Miracle Valley Church allowing her to preach at various venues throughout Cheyenne.  Lee spent her final years writing sermons and taking notes of her Bible reading (more than twenty 3 ring binders have been found so far).

Lee left behind a legacy of love directly from the source, the Lord!  Lee left this material world on May 18th, 2026 in order to finally look at the One who sits on the Throne across the Sea of Glass that she spoke of often.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home in Laramie. Interment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.

Lee was a wonderful student in junior high. I knew her entire family since her father was our vet for many years. Lee was like her father since both were so kind to everyone. Rest in peace, Lee

I met Lee when her beautiful mother Ruth worked for me getting ready for Registration. Her mother was an Angel as was Lee. Lee always had a smile and was extremely gracious and kind. Lee also helped mw with Registration. I remember how kind and loving she was to her mother. Rest in Peace Lee. You are now with your mother and Father. Dance with the Angeles!

Lee was my best friend of 34 years. She was more giving and selfless of anyone I've ever known. She was my best friend confidant and someone I always could go to in hard times. She trained me from a rookie Direct support professional at the Ark in Laramie back in 1992 to a independent case manager and provider. No one was more passionate and self giving than Lee . She lead me to Christ and was someone I can never replace. Iam devastated but I know Lee would want others needs to come first. She was an angel on Earth and someone I've always and will continue to look on as a mentor, best friend and a true servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. Fly high my friend till we meet again.

Lee, (slowpoke) . All the sweet memories we conjured up, from Jr.High, working UW concessions, Trick and Drinking, Christmas Caroling, and the day when we started High school and you call me Lee. Making Whoopi pies for Christmas and other goodies, since those days in the kitchen, I have found a recipe. I still hold the little silver box with its red lining. We seemed to let the friendship disappear as we grew up. So now we have parted and you are at peace and a better place. Rest in Peace my friend! Pat (Punk)

The Allen family were always such good friends of ours. Lee and Brian were buddies in Kenspeckle players and at school. I especially remember our going to Snort's to dance. She tore up the floor. Lee had such a loving heart, and she did great things in her community. She will be sorely missed.
