Angelina S. Maes, a devoted caregiver and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at home with her two children by her side on August 11, 2026. She was born in Pueblo, Colorado, on June 11, 1940, to Celina DeHerrera and Solomon E. Gallegos.

Angelina was a woman of immense warmth and kindness, known for her generous spirit and unwavering dedication to the care of others. As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), she touched countless lives with her compassionate nature and genuine concern for the well-being of those she served. Her career was not just a job but a calling, and she embodied the true essence of caregiving.

Angelina’s life was marked by her deep love for her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Michael and Debbie, and a proud grandmother to her grandson, Jeremy. Her family was her greatest joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She also cared tenderly for her beloved fur baby, Cooper, who brought her much comfort and companionship.

She was married to Mike Maes, with whom she shared a life filled with love and mutual support. Angelina was particularly devoted to caring for her husband during his time of need, demonstrating her remarkable strength and dedication.

Angelina was a faithful member of St. Laurence O’Toole and found solace and community within the church. Her faith was an integral part of her life, providing her with guidance and strength throughout her journey.

In addition to her children and grandson, Angelina is survived by her sisters Irene, Lilly, Jenny, and Ernestine, her brothers Freddy and Phil, and her very special sister-in-law and best friend, Sarah. She was predeceased by her sisters Francis, Lucy, and Tonya, and her brothers Jimmy and Solomon. Her legacy of kindness and generosity will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Angelina’s life was a testament to the power of love and selflessness. Her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who were fortunate enough to be touched by her gentle spirit.
