William “Willie” Stolns

W. Stolns PictureWilliam “Willie” George Stolns passed away on March 17, 2016 in Loveland, Colorado after a lengthy battle with cancer.

 

Willie was born in Saratoga on February 15, 1946 to Louis and Anna Stolns. Willie attended school in Saratoga and graduated in 1964. He was drafted in to the Army in 1964 and served in the First Cavalry Airmobile for two years, one of which he served in Vietnam.

 

When Willie returned home he worked at Rosebud Coal in Hanna for nineteen years. At the time of his death he was working as an oil transport driver for Plains All American in Wamsutter. He was a member of the Saratoga Fire Department for 51 years as well as serving on the Wamsutter, Ryan Park and Carbon County Fire Departments. He was on the Saratoga Ambulance Service for 35 years. He was a life member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, as well as being a member of the American Legion in Saratoga and Encampment.

 

Willie married the love of his life, Vickie Marie DeMarce on August 17, 1966. The couple had two daughters, Tanya and Trinette.

 

Willie’s family was his biggest interest in life. He was a devoted spouse, loving and caring father, grandfather, father-in-law and uncle. He was an avid elk hunter and enjoyed fishing. He and Vickie enjoyed riding their Honda Goldwing and trike, four wheeling and wood working. Much of his free time was spent volunteering and helping people.

 

He is survived by his best friend and wife of forty-nine years Vickie, daughter Tanya (Ken) Rollison, daughter Trinette (Adam) Smith, Grandson Trenton Burgess, Granddaughter Shaylee Burgess (Fiancé Lane Swedlund). Treasured nephew Brian (Tiffany) Herring, very special friend Jim (Synve) Mitchell, brother Lewis Jr (Jeanie) Stolns, brother Dave Stolns, sister Dorothy Stolns, nephew Duane (Debbie) Stolns, niece Vonda Ward, niece Darla (Russell) Huggins. Brother-in-law George (Nora) DeMarce, sister-in-law Delia DeMarce, sister-in-law Melodie (Rob) Seilaff, as well as numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his father Louis Stolns, mother Anna Stolns, brother Joe Stolns, father-in-law Arthur “Frenchie” DeMarce, mother-in-law Mallie DeMarce, sister-in-law Artis Lutton, and special friend and brother-in-law Levi Herring.

 

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home in Laramie. Memorial Services will be held April 2, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Saratoga Cemetery Pavilion. Honorary pall bearers are Adam Smith, Ken Rollison, Trenton Burgess, Lane Swedlund, Brian Herring and John Lasco.
