Orelius G. “Ron” Berkel aka Shadow, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at his home surrounded by love. He was born on December 30, 1962 in Curacao to Charles and Olive (nee Rogers) Berkel.
Ron’s greatest passion was being a DJ, something he started doing as a teenager. He enjoyed the way music made him feel and loved to share the influence of music with others. Ron enjoyed being in nature and fishing. He worked various jobs over the years and made many friends. Ron became a mentor to many children, and he tried to help guide them through difficult times by sharing his experience. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3493.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles, and his grandparents.
Ron is survived by his beloved children; his other half, Heidi Kelsey; his mother, Olive Berkel of Curacao; his brother, Remie (Lisandra) Berkel of Curacao; his nephew, Nethan Berkel; his niece, Nissie Berkel; his extended family; and a large family of friends built over the years.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 126 East Lyons St. Laramie, WY followed by a celebration of life with music by DJ Zimbo.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Orelius “Ron” Berkel aka Shadow Memorial Fund at First Interstate Bank, PO Box 1307 Laramie, WY 82073.
Sending lots of love to shadows family.. He was a loving fun man.. He made friends with everyone.. He is greatly missed.. It didn't matter if he saw his friends everyday or awhile ago he always made sure we knew he hadn't forgotten us.. He is very dear to us and we will miss him..
My heart goes out to Shadows family . I will alwsys be greatful to have him as a great friend. He always was there for you when ever you needed him. Shadow will be missed by so many. May he watch over his kids and Family.RIP Shadow...Till we all see each other again.
