Early on the morning of February 9, 2023, Reverend Karen Sue Sundland, Pastor of Laramie First Baptist Church, passed from this life into the Kingdom after a brief illness. Her fiancé, Reverend Eric John Lundquist of Waukesha, WI was at her bedside.
A Casper, WY native, Karen was predeceased by her father Milton Sundland and Mother Emily Annastazie (Hauzer) Sundland. In addition to Eric, she is survived by cousins across the nation, including Marlys Powell of Oregon, Charli Gill of South Dakota and Justin Keller of Pennsylvania.

Another memorial service will be performed at First Baptist Church in West Allis 1576 S 78th St, West Allis, WI on April 22 at 11 A.M. A reception and light lunch will follow the service. To Eric, family and friends of Karen, While timing and distances kept us apart, my cousin Karen was always a part of our family. We recall fondly now, many years ago on a trip to the Black Hills, Karen accompanied us and we truly enjoyed her company, going to that world famous Wall Drug!, the Badlands and sightseeing. I was shocked and saddened to hear ok Karen's passing. I knew her when she was a student at CRDS and I worked in the library. We kept in touch. She was a sweet person and a good friend. My condolences to her family and of course Eric. Donna Parks
So very sorry to open the paper this morning and find Karen's photo and name in the obituaries. I haven't seen Karen for many years since she moved from Rochester. A genuinely kind and loving person. Blessings to all families and friends!!
The Lundquist Fillats of Pasadena, Maryland were blessed with Karen’s friendship. She shared in family rituals, a memorial service and a wedding. She fit right in. She was a wonderful companion to Eric. We will miss you, Karen.
