William Edgar Millican, 83, a long time resident of Larimer County passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 in Twin Falls, ID from complications of a hip fracture.
William “Bill” was born on November 10, 1933 in Florence, Colorado, the son of Ed Roy Millican and Ruth Ethel Anderson. He was raised and educated in Montrose and Meeker, Colorado during elementary school and attended high school in Mesa, Arizona. He served as an Air Force policeman.
He was married to Polly Schaffer of Virginia Dale, CO for 18 years, they had 3 daughters. He was a rancher, competitive calf roper and raised registered quarter horses throughout his life. He lived in Virginia Dale and Waverly, Colorado prior to moving to Idaho.
He is survived by: two daughters, Peggy R. Millican of Pine and Virginia Dale, CO and Leanna R. Millican of Denver, CO and Tie Siding, WY, a granddaughter, River Schaffer-Millican; and many extended family members in Idaho.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Esther L. Millican; brothers, Harold, Lyle and Donald Millican.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Aug 13, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Virginia Dale Community Church with reception to follow.
The family suggests that tax deductible memorial contributions be made to “Virginia Dale Community Club” in memory of William Millican.
Bill was a good man and so helpful to me. Being handicapped Bill drove me to places on the Two Bars Seven Ranch and neighboring ranches to hunt antelope. He did this for me as did Ted Shaffer. My memories of Bill Millican are all good. He was a true cowboy in the best definition of the word. He loved the land and the beauty of the Rockies. He always had a smile and a kind word. My own father talked to me about Bill and their business dealings years before I met Bill and had business with him as well. He was "true blue", and this world lost a good one when Bill left us. RIP Bill Millican.
