August 5, 1943 – May 20, 2026
Sandra (Sandy) Wasmuth, nee Cotton went home to be with the LORD on May 20, 2026. Sandy was born on August 5, 1943, to Clarence and Marjorie Cotton in Newcastle, Wyoming and was the youngest of three children.
Sandy grew up on a ranch in Clareton, Wyoming and attend K-12 schools in Newcastle. As a child she loved being outside and playing with the frogs she caught and her pet duck. She was often seen tagging alone behind her dad and as a toe-headed little girl, the name Cotton seemed appropriate. Sandy graduated from Newcastle High School in May 1961 and moved to Laramie in the Fall of 1961 in order to attend the University of Wyoming, where she planned to study and major in Art education.
While attending school in Laramie Sandy ran into Eddie Wasmuth, who she would fall head over heels for and eloped with him three months later on December 9, 1961. They were married for 60 years before Ed’s death in 2022. Together they raised their children – Bob Wasmuth of Cimarron, KS, Debbie (Rob) Fisher and Jim (Sueann) Wasmuth of Laramie, WY.
Sandy never finished her art degree but found her passion for numbers and banking. Spending 35 years working in the banking industry before retiring from First Interstate Bank. She loved operating the proof machine and interacting with all the customers.
Sandy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, two daughters, her sister, brother, and both parents.
Sandy leaves behind her three children, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Sandy’s love of the LORD and unfailing commitment to her family will be remembered and treasured forever.
Services will be held on Friday, May 29th at 10:00 AM at Laramie Valley Chapel in Laramie, Wyoming.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to: Laramie Hospice House or the Laramie Soup Kitchen.
