Jason Lee deJong was born September 22, 1973 in Casper Wyoming, second of four children to Martin and Lorna deJong. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 22, 2025.
As a young boy Jason was always neat and clean and organized and had a room to match. He was always frustrated when his little brother would come in and touch his stuff, but he never lost his temper. He always had a jovial and happy personality.
As a youth Jason was easy-going and enjoyed playing his guitar. He took many lessons and even taught himself some things. He enjoyed learning about the US government. He was one of three High School students in Wyoming chosen to go to the Congressional Youth Leadership Council in Washington DC. He made 2 very special friends in High School. Justin Kobielusz, and Jeff Strgar. Through the examples of Jason and Justin, Jeff came to know and love the gospel of Jesus Christ and became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. The three of them became a force for good and served honorable missions for the church.
When Jason got home from his mission, he married Kristy “Kristine” Jackman on the 27 of July, 1995 in the Denver Colorado temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. From this blessed marriage came two wonderful boys determined to come into this world. Jason Lee deJong Jr. and Joshua Jarom deJong. Jason truly loved his family. Jason always made sure his family never went without out. He was a hard worker putting in 75 hours a week at times if that’s what it took. In 2018 Kristy passed away from a battle with cancer. Being the valiant stalwart person he was, he pressed on and raised his two boys to have dignity and respect for others. He instilled his work ethic in his boys that will be a blessing for the rest of their lives.
Jason was not only a hard worker for his family, but others as well. He served his fellow church members as Bishop. He was also in the young men’s program, and even the primary. Jason served valiantly and in his own unique way. Those who knew him know that he was willing to help anyone. He will be missed by all who knew him.,
Jason is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents Martin and Joye deJong, and Kenneth and Verla Wanberg. Wife Kristy deJong. He is survived by his two sons Jason Lee deJong Jr, Joshua Jarom deJong. Parents Martin L. deJong, Lorna J. deJong. Father-in-law Kenneth Carl Jackman. Mother-in-law Joanne Hazel Jackman. Brothers Dwaine (Nicole) deJong, Darrel (Jessica) deJong. Sister Angela (Shane) Ballard. Multiple nieces and nephews, and even a few great nieces and nephews on his and Kristy sides of the family
