Jane Powell

Jane Powell, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Laramie, WY on November 28, 2025.  Jane was born in Sidney, Nebraska on January 15, 1933 to Doug and Avis Boyd. 

She married her high school sweetheart Richard (Dick) Powell in 1951.  Dick and Jane moved to Laramie in 1959 and raised their five children until his untimely death in 1969. Jane provided for her children in the home she loved so much.  She was a beautiful, compassionate, caring and giving person to those she loved. She worked for United Way of Albany County and two physicians for 20 years.  She was an auxiliary volunteer for Ivinson Memorial Hospital, a member of P.E.O. International Chapter U, Laramie, WY and a member of St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her two sisters, Susan Blome and Nancy Ballas, her husband, Dick Powell and grandson, Douglas Way.

She is survived by her five children, Sam (Laura) Powell, Doug (Joyce) Powell, Ellen (Marvin) Teigen, John Powell and Amy (Toby) Way, five grandchildren, Chris Powell, Susan (Adam) Milmont, Lacey Cooper, Cody (Lacey) Way and Sam (Riley) Way; nine great grandchildren, Audrey, Zoe, Sarah, James and Samantha Milmont, Lillian Powell, Sayge Cooper, Remi and Willow Way and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on January 15, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Sidney, Nebraska. There will be a reception following the graveside service at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sidney.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Laramie or the United Way of Albany County.

    My sincere condolences to the Powell family. John and I have been friends since we lived a couple houses apart before we were school age. I still remember our scheme to go back and forth between houses to keep supplied with graham crackers. Fond memories of your mom.
