
James Johnstone Lewis, Jr., of Laramie, Wyoming, died on May, 9, 2025 of natural causes at the age of 94.
James was born on May 1, 1931, in Eclipse, Virginia, to James Johnstone Lewis, Sr. and Rosa (Shreves) Lewis. He was the sibling of five sisters and one brother.
He attended Chuckatuck High School in Crittendon, Virginia before furthering his education at the University of Virginia, studying engineering, and the University of Santa Clara, studying management.
James joined the United States Army in 1948, discharging in 1952.
He married Eva Rose Defilippo on October 26, 1952 and together they welcomed four sons.
He began employment at the Norfolk Naval Yard and in 1954 began working for Lockheed, retiring in 1972. During his long life, he owned fence companies, pool companies and restaurants. Although living in Laramie at the time of his death, James had lived all over the United States throughout his life.
James is survived by his wife, Eva; sons James Johnstone Lewis III, Dennis Michael Lewis (Tami), and Mark Steven Lewis (Maria); and twelve grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren
He is preceded in death by his parents, son Kenneth Brian Lewis; two sisters, one brother and a grandchild.
A graveside service will be held on October 11, 2025 at 9:30 a.m. at the Beal Memorial Cemetery, in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
