Glynne S. Ihms

Glynne S Ihms, age 99, died July 12, 2016, in Laramie, Wyoming. Glynne was born in Omaha, NE on March 4, 1917 to LaVerne and Ruth (Bellis) Shelley. She is the widow of Alan H. Ihms.

Office Secretary at Irving Junior High School for 20 years; volunteer at WICS Home for Girls; 12 year member of the Lincoln General Hospital Auxiliary; Chapter A.Q. P.E.O.; past president, Lincoln Public Schools Association of Office Personnel; Honorary Lifetime Member, P.T.A.; TeamMate Mentor, Sheridan Elementary School and Charter Member of the Lincoln Needleworkers Guild.

Glynne was a gracious and generous person who brought much joy to those around her. She was extraordinarily kind and giving yet exceptionally modest. Since her move to Laramie in 2005, a number of former colleagues and friends thought so highly of her that they traveled from Lincoln to visit her. She was keenly interested in needlework and produced many elegant pieces which are treasured by her family. Glynne had a strong interest in current events and politics and, at times, she unleashed her keen sense of humor on certain public figures whom she thought ludicrous. She had a deep love for animals and constantly had a feline companion during her years in Laramie.

Glynne had a deep concern for the welfare of other people and, for many years, was an active volunteer and contributor to causes she regarded as important. She was an active reader and was always eager to keep herself well-informed. She was a remarkably special person; she was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Preceded in death by parents, LaVerne and Ruth Shelley; brother, Wayne Shelley; beloved husband, Alan Ihms; daughter, Gay Boyd; son, Scott Ihms; and daughter-in-law, Lori Sherman.

Survived by daughter, Adrianne (Richard) Howey, Laramie, WY; son, Harry Ihms, Plains, MT; sister-in-law, Joyce Griffin, San Antonio TX; three grandsons, one granddaughter, two great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

No services will be held. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment with husband, Alan; son, Scott and two beloved cats will take place in Greenhill Cemetery, Laramie, WY.

Family suggests memorials may be made to the Animal Care Shelter of Laramie.

What a beautiful tribute to Glynne. She was all of that and so much more. Elegant, erudite, engagingly witty, intelligent, kind, and loving, to enumerate but a few of her attributes. She will be missed by everyone privileged enough to have been graced with her presence. Steve and Sandy
