Elisabeth “Liz” Hewitt

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Elisabeth “Liz” Hewitt, a cherished wife, devoted mother, adored grandmother, beloved sister, and treasured aunt. She went to be with our Lord and Savior on April 3, 2024, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and grace.

Liz was born December 26, 1937 to Anton and Maria Erbar in Kitzingen, Germany. From a young age, her compassionate nature and nurturing spirit shone brightly, touching the lives of all who knew her. She embraced life with enthusiasm and approached every challenge with unwavering strength and resilience.

As a wife, Liz was the epitome of love and devotion. She shared a deep and profound bond with her beloved husband, Jerry, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they built a life rooted in love and shared countless cherished memories.

Liz was a beacon of light in her role as a mother. She poured her heart and soul into nurturing and guiding her daughter, instilling in her the values of compassion, integrity, and empathy. Her love knew no bounds, and she was a constant source of encouragement and inspiration to her daughter as she navigated life’s journey.

To her granddaughter, Oma, as she was affectionately known, was a source of endless joy and affection. She delighted in her granddaughters laughter, celebrated her milestones, and cherished every moment she spent with her. Her unconditional love knew no bounds.

Liz will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will live on in the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. May her kindness, compassion, and love continue to inspire us all as we honor her memory and carry her legacy forward. 

Liz is survived by her daughter, Janet Hewitt Cully and son-in-law, Brian; her beloved granddaughter, Genevieve Elisabeth Cully; her cherished Goddaughter, Heidi Rios; her sister, Inge Pope; her brother, Heinz Erbar, and sister-in-law, Roswitha; her nephew, Jerry Pope, and his wife Dessa; her sister-in-law, Sharon Maynard; and many nieces and nephews.

Liz was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Hewitt; her parents, Anton and Maria Erbar; her sisters, Sibylla Husfelt, Luise Erbar, and Margarete (Marga) Zimmermann; her brother, Hans Erbar; her brothers-in-law, Henry Husfelt, Charles Pope, John Geouge, Andy Hewitt, and Ferdinand (Ferdl) Zimmermann; her sisters-in-law Frances Geouge and Anneliese Erbar.

In Lieu of flowers donation can be made to the Hospice of Laramie (501c3), 1754 Centennial Drive, Laramie, WY 82070.  Her final resting place will be Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
