Elaine Fern (Burg) Turner

Elaine Fern (Burg) Turner was born October 26, 1947 in McCook, Nebraska to parents Bertha and Albert Burg.

Elaine and her sister Elanor grew up on the family farm north of Oberlin, Kansas. Elaine attended Decatur County High School in Oberlin, Kansas, and went on to college at McCook Community College and Fort Hays State University at Hays, Kansas, where she graduated in 1968 with a degree in Business Education. In college she was active in Student NEA.

A few days after graduation she married William Gary Turner on June 8, 1968. She and Gary lived in Wichita, Kansas, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Hurst, Texas.

She worked as a Temporary Administration Assistant and on projects for the National Archives at Fort Worth, Texas for 11 years. She also did extensive genealogy research and helped manage a used book cottage for 15 years. She liked to play the piano, cook, and sew.

Elaine and her husband Gary retired to Loveland, Colorado to be close to family.

She is survived by her husband Gary Turner, Ft. Collins, Colorado; nieces Lorraine (Cal) Van Zee, Laramie, WY, Teri (Jim) Robinson, Pittsburg, Kansas, and nephew Gery Simpson, Cheyenne, Wyoming; and many great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She passed away in Ft. Collins, Colorado on June 8, 2023, her 55th wedding anniversary with family by her side.

At her request, there will be no services. Interment will be at the McCracken Cemetery in McCracken, Kansas.
