Diane Gerhart

Diane Ruth Gerhart, age 65, went to be with the Lord on December 2, 2023, in Cheyenne, WY.

Diane was born on June 6, 1958, in Spearfish, SD to Eugene and Ruth Gerhart.  She graduated from Sundance High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Wyoming.

Diane continued to live in Laramie and worked at First Interstate Bank in the accounting department for several years.  Upon leaving there, she began her 25-year career at the University of Wyoming working in several departments including Payroll, Accounting, and Geology. She was working in the Office of Sponsored Programs at the time of her illness in 2020.

Diane was known as an amazing, fun loving, and caring family member and friend.  She had an incredible and special sense of humor that could take the most mundane occurrence and turn it into a story that had everyone laughing about it before she got done telling it.  She loved Star Trek & considered herself to be a true “Trekkie” and also a Wyoming Cowboy and Denver Bronco fan.

She could always be counted on to be there to offer her help and support through the years whether the need was from family members, friends, or even strangers.  Her nieces and nephews were her world and she created and shared so many fun and memorable experiences for and with them.  She also had maintained deep and lasting friendships with so many of the lives she touched during her life’s journey.  She enjoyed “pet and house sitting” for friends and family and always shared the antics of her “critters”.

Diane is survived by her sister Debbie Kuhn (Johnny) of Laramie and brother Robert Gerhart (Vicki) of Cheyenne.  Her nieces and nephews included Codi Kuhn Rieb (Jeb) of Fort Collins, CO., Jeremy Kuhn (Chelsea) of Laramie, Brian Gerhart (Jessica) and Eric Gerhart of Cheyenne. Great nieces and nephews are Teegan and Taylee Rieb of Fort Collins, Jace and Atley Kuhn of Laramie, and Emersyn Gerhart of Cheyenne.  She also had many stepsiblings that she cared a great deal for.

Diane was preceded in death by her Mom and Stepdad, Ruth and Bob Gurkowski and her Dad and Stepmom, Eugene and Dorothy Gerhart and many special aunts and uncles.

Memorials may be made to the Diane Gerhart Memorial Fund, in care of Debbie Kuhn, 603 Fetterman St., Laramie, WY 82070.  The family plans to donate the funds to the Laramie Animal Welfare Society and to programs that benefit underprivileged children. Donations can also be made to charity of choice in Diane’s name.

Funeral services will be held on January 20, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Montgomery Stryker Funeral Home.  An additional memorial service will be held in Sundance, WY in the summer 2024, with burial to be at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Sundance.
