Charles Joseph Kane, Jr.

Chuck Kane, 85, of Laramie, WY passed away peacefully on January 29, 2024 surrounded by family.  He was born on August 8, 1938 in Colorado Springs, CO to Charles J. Kane, Sr. and Lois Ruth (Steel) Kane.  He graduated from Laramie Sr. High School, class of 1956 Hoodlums.

Chuck joined the Wyoming Army National Guard in 1961. As Private First Class he completed courses and served as a Construction Draftsman in the 1022nd Engineer Battalion in Fort Lewis, WA. His unit was packed and ready to be shipped to Germany during the Berlin Crisis. The Berlin Crisis was settled before his unit shipped out, and he was released from active duty and returned to Laramie where he completed his remaining service obligation in the Wyoming Army National Guard Reserve until 1967.  

Chuck worked for Ludwig’s Grocery for 12 years following high school and during his reserve military service. In 1968, he went to work for Lowham Plumbing & Heating and then Snow Plumbing in 1978. In 1980 he started his own plumbing service business, CK Service Plumbing & Heating and retired in 2012.

In his spare time, Chuck enjoyed model railroading, coin and stamp collecting, fishing, Wyoming Cowboy football and NASCAR.

Chuck is survived by his four daughters, Leah and husband Jeff Smith of Greeley, CO, Laura and husband Terry Tripp of Amarillo, TX, Leslee and husband Kevin Clements of Gillette, WY and Lonnie Kane of Denver, CO; sister, Patricia and husband Chuck Lowham of Laramie, WY; grandchildren, Felicia Bacon of Amarillo, TX, Adam Smith of Nunn, CO, Tyler Smith of Greeley, CO, Kane and Libby Clements of Gillette, WY; nephews Casey Lowham and family of Laramie, WY and Guy Lowham and family of Westminster, CO. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 1:00 – 3:00 pm at the Laramie Railroad Depot, 600 S. 1st Street, Laramie.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Laramie, 1754 Centennial Dr., Laramie or Eppson Center for Seniors, 1560 N. 3rd St., Laramie.
