Bobby Christopher Secrease

Bobby Christopher Secrease, 92, of Pierce, Colorado, formerly Idaho Springs, died Sunday, January 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 6, 1928 in Elsinore, Missouri to John Thomas Lee and Hester Ann (Caruthers) Secrease.

He married Mary Jane Condray on April 24, 1962 in Olathe, Kansas.

He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.

After leaving the Army, Bobby moved to Colorado where he worked in the logging industry alongside his father.  In 1974 Bobby began his career as a hard rock miner at Henderson Mine where he was employed for over 20 years.  He was late for work once during his career when an elk ran over his truck. After retiring he went back to Henderson as a contract employee for a number of years.

Bobby’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He had many hobbies that included collecting rocks, reading westerns and books on WWII, tinkering in his shop and being outside.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed teasing people whenever he got the chance.  His kind heart and fun loving ways are treasured memories of all those who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Hester Secrease; his wife, Mary Jane Secrease; his children, Michael Patrick Secrease and Bobby Christopher Secrease Jr.; his siblings, Clinton Ray Secrease and Ethel Mae Carroz.

Bobby is survived by his children, Tonya Secrease, Debbie Secrease, Missie Secrease (Ken La Velle), Dan Secrease, and Dakota Secrease; his grandchildren, Garrett Reich (Susan), Michael Reich, Christy Reich, Dawn Messer, Coltt La Velle, and AllieRae La Velle; his nine great grandchildren; and his sister, Genafay Marie Secrease.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
