Betty R. Henning

Betty R. Henning passed away April 13, 2024, at the age of 94. She was born on March 9, 1930, to Delos George Silvius and Beulah Binstead Silvius in Kansas City Missouri. She graduated from Ottawa Kansas High School (O.H.S.) in 1948. She was the Junior Class President and in her Senior year, she was honored as O.H.S.’s first football queen. She attended Saint Luke’s nursing school in Kansas City and graduated as a Registered Nurse, an accomplishment which she and her whole family were extremely proud. She was a dedicated and loving caregiver her entire life.

She married Walter L. Moore and moved to Wyoming where she lived for 20 years and raised four children in Cody, while working as the Park County Public Health Nurse. She married Dr. C. W. Henning of Ottawa Kansas, where she resided for 20 years and worked as a medical administrator. She retired to Brownsville Texas, where she lived for several years with partner Jack E. Davis and was active in the First Presbyterian Church community. She then moved to High Springs Florida, where she spent several years with her oldest son, Alan L. Moore, and was a valued member of the local bridge clubs.

She passed away in Centennial Wyoming, at the home of her daughter Janet S. Lowe and son-in-law James. She is survived by her sons Alan L. Moore, Dr. Leonard R. Moore and wife Dawn, and Jerry D. Moore and wife Liz, and daughter Janet S. Lowe and husband James A. Lowe. Also, grandchildren Logan Moore and wife Hilary, Jordan Moore, Stevie Moore, and Sean Alexander.

Betty loved her family and friends dearly and was loved deeply in return. She lived a vibrant and productive Christian life every single day. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

    So sad to hear about the passing of Betty! Betty was my 1st boss here in Ottawa at Cedar House Nursing Home. Betty took a chance on me and hired me at 15 ( which was our secret for 3 months) she was so very kind and strict . Because of her I continued to work at the Home for 25 years!!!! Betty was one of a kind!!!!! So very sorry for your loss
