Adela (Dela) Paiz- our mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025, at the age of 95 in the comfort of her own home. She was able to savor visits during the last weeks of her life from family and lifelong friends.
She was born on May 8, 1930, in Rawlins, WY., being one of ten children to Emilio and Amalia Aguilar.
She enjoyed cooking, fishing, crafting, gambling, visiting with family and friends, listening to mariachi music, taking care of her dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was an avid Bronco and Rockies fan. Adela’s accomplishment was the love and care she gave to her children, 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Emilio and Amalia Aguilar, husband Joseph, daughter Emilia, her brothers John, Jesus, Rudy, Reynaldo, and her sisters Mary Romans, Sally Cordova, and Margaret Sandoval.
Adela is survived by her sisters, Julia Martinez and Esther Phinney; son Robert, daughters, Josie Montez, Susan Vialpando, Mary Mesa, special nephew Joe Maestas, 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Many thanks to the staff at Hospice of Laramie for the special care given to her.
A Visitation will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14th at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home. Funeral Liturgy will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 15th at St. Paul’s Newman Center. Inurnment will follow at Greenhill Cemetery.
Please feel free to wear your favorite Broncos and Rockies attire.

She was such a nice lady, I never saw her mad or unhappy. Very plesent to sit and talk with. I will miss seeing her and talking with her. Her family was amazing the way they card for her.
I have wonderful memories of going to the Paiz’s house as a child. The smell of coffee, the chats between our moms, and being welcomed by the family will always be treasured. As time passed, seeing your mom and dad was always a pleasure. They always took the time to share a story or two. Your mom was a remarkable woman. With deepest sympathy, Kathleen Eberhart (Brown)
