Violet A. Wickersham, 87, of Laramie, Wyoming, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 29, 2025, surrounded by her family. Violet (Vi) was born July 26, 1937, in Bridgeport, Nebraska to Percy and Susan (Gott) Wilson. As a child, Violet’s family lived in the Fort Collins, Colorado area, before moving to Laramie in 1948.
Violet married Marland E. (Skip) Wickersham on November 21, 1961, in Laramie, Wyoming. They raised their three children, Anthony (Tony), Laurie, and Julie in Laramie. Vi worked for several years as a skilled bookkeeper for a few Laramie small businesses and later worked for the Albany County School Lunch program at Elementary Central. She finished her working years at UW Student Health.
Violet will be most fondly remembered as a loving and devoted wife, beloved mother, grandmother and aunt, and cherished friend to so many. She loved time camping on the Encampment River, decorating for each season, shopping with her daughters and granddaughters, and most especially loved singing with the Melodees group. She also enjoyed sharing a glass of wine with friends and her adored grandchildren, always toasting “Happy Trails to You”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her older sisters: Lavergne, Ethel and Dorothy; and her brothers: Bethel and Bill, and one infant daughter, Vickie. She is survived by her husband, Skip Wickersham, children: Tony Wickersham (Kathy), Laurie Hill (Lynn), and Julie Sprigg (Lee); ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren, along with one sister, Sue Morgan (Phil) and numerous nieces & nephews.
A Celebration of Life for Violet will be held in late July in Laramie, tentatively on July 26, 2025. Location and further details to be announced pending confirmation.
Tony, Kathy, and family - I am very sorry to hear of Vi's passing, she was a wonderful woman, and will certainly be missed. All of my best to you, Brad Jackson
