
James Ackerson, passed away June 4, 2026 leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to family.
Born on June 9, 1946, James lived a life defined by dedication and quiet strength. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, working as a helicopter mechanic, a role that reflected both his skill and his commitment to others.
Following his military service, James built a long and honorable career with Mountain Bell, where he worked for 30 years before retiring. He was respected for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the pride he took in providing for his family.
On September 18, 1965, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ackerson. Together, they built a life grounded in love, resilience, and unwavering support for one another. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Anna-Marie Halsey of Laramie and James Ackerson of California. Anna later married Randall Halsey, who became a valued member of the family. He also leaves behind his grandson, Dorian Ackerson of Laramie.
James will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ackerson and Macelle Ackerson, as well as his siblings, Janice Tibbitts and Robert Ackerson.
Though his passing leaves a deep void, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. His legacy endures through his family and the many lives he touched with his kindness and strength.
Cremation has occurred no services will be held.
In lieu of flowers a memorial donation may be made to Laramie Animal Welfare or Enhabit Care Hospice.


Pat My wife Beth and I were saddened to learn of Jim's passing. Jim and I earned our Ham Radio Licenes together nearly 30 years ago. We spent many hours together with contests, Bernie Clubs and a lot of grand times. He was a great friend and I will miss him. our thoughts and prayers for you and your family, He was one of a kind.
