Wendy Marie Davis

Wendy Marie Davis was born on January 28, 1971 in Laramie to Maron and Charlotte (Hearne) Davis, and no one ever had a sweeter daughter. She attended pre-school and early elementary school in Laramie before attending and graduating from the Anne Carlsen School for the Physically Handicapped in Jamestown, North Dakota. There she was involved in several clubs including Student Council and was a candidate for Prom Queen.

Following graduation, Wendy moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where she had been involved with Magic City Enterprises. She was a long-term volunteer at United Medical Center where she was named Volunteer of the Year. She earned district and state gold medals for Special Olympics and was awarded the Presidential Award for Achievement. In 1998, she was featured during Handicapped Awareness Week for her courage and achievements. She had been an inspiration and role model to many. Her personal motto was, “When the going gets tough, the tough get going.”

Despite her physical challenges and many surgeries, Wendy enjoyed life and people enjoyed her. She loved music, shopping, spectator sports (especially football and basketball) and was an avid Wyoming Cowboy and Denver Bronco fan. She liked to travel and had traveled to over half of the United States including trips to Disneyland, Disney World, Fan Fare, and Branson. Her family was very important to her, and she had a wonderful and supportive extended family. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion of her aunts, uncles, cousins, or friends. She especially enjoyed holidays and family gatherings. She truly was the “Wind Beneath Our Wings.”

Wendy entered peacefully into the Kingdom on December 25th, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her parents, her aunts and uncles Marge and Bob Rackham (Albany, Oregon), Terry and Pam Hearne (Rochester, New York), Jim and Peggy Hearne (Cheyenne, Wyoming), Gary Hearne, Vince and Cheryl Bath, Tim and Carol Hearne (Laramie, Wyoming), Jerry Davis (Faribault, Minnesota), numerous cousins, and many friends.

Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 at St. Paul’s Newman Center.

Memorials may be made to Magic City, 1750 Westland Road, Cheyenne, WY 82001; Hospice of Laramie, 1754 Centennial Drive, Laramie, WY 82070; or to a charity of choice.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Davis & Family,
So sorry to learn of your loss of Wendy. I remember meeting her once when her dad was my science teacher. A brief, but very memorable meeting as she was so very full of love and affection. A beautiful soul.
