Steve A. Rodriguez

Steve A. Rodriguez, 86, passed away on June 19, 2026, in Laramie, Wyoming.

He was born in 1939 in the San Luis Valley of Colorado to Robert Chavez Rodriguez and Aurelia Madrid Rodriguez.

Steve graduated from Laramie High School and later attended Plumbers and Pipefitters School in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1966, he joined UA Local 192 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. He received a certificate of completion of apprenticeship in the trade of plumber in September 1970. He worked in the plumbing and pipefitting trade for many years with various companies before retiring from the University of Wyoming in 1999.

Steve loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed camping and fishing in the Snowy Range Mountains. He was an enthusiastic and vocal supporter of his children at their sporting events, often the loudest voice whether he was in the stands or on the sidelines. He was known for his friendly smile and sense of humor, always ready with a joke or a good story, and could be counted on to bring Bugles and bean dip to any gathering.

On October 13, 1962, Steve married Sherrill Anne Cotton. Together they had three children: Jo Marie Paintin (James), Tim Rodriguez (Sue), and Amy Rodriguez. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jenifer Paintin, J.R. Paintin, and J.D. Paintin (Kimberly); his brother, Sam Rodriguez (Nan); and many loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Bernice Lucero, June Zeitlin, Robert A. Rodriguez, Evelyn Irene Rodriguez, and Charles A. Rodriguez.

A private family burial will be held at a later date.
