Scott Thomas Mathews

Scott Mathews of Laramie, WY passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday March 25th, 2026.

Scott was born in Attleborough Massachusetts on April 5th, 1958, to Joe and Jean Mathews. Scott lived in Plainville MA and graduated from King Phillip High School in 1976 where he studied vocational carpentry and was captain of the football team. In December of 1977 Scott enlisted in the Navy using the buddy system with his lifelong best friend Jimmy Ellis.

Scott Served with VQ-2 Reconnaissance Squadron as an Aviation Electronics Technician in Rota Spain. While serving his country he met his beautiful wife Terry who served with him as a fellow Sailor.

Scott and Terry had many adventures living in New Jersey, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and finally landing in Wyoming where he was a loving grandfather to his granddaughters, Taylor and Sammie Mathews.

Scott is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years Terry Mathews, his son Joe and his wife Chelsie Mathews and his daughter Chrissy Mathews her husband Travis Collins.

He is also survived by his brothers David Mathews and Steven (Geri) Mathews and sister Susan Mathews. His Aunt, Shirley Keenan and his Uncle, Harold LeBeau. He is also survived by his large extended family of many cousins, nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Scott was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Jean Mathews, and his sister Linda Gaudette.

A Celebration of his Life will be held on April 26, 2026, at Albany County Fairgrounds at 2pm in Laramie, Wyoming with another Celebration of his Life in July of this year in New England.

Scott enjoyed a life full of music, laughter, kindness and love.

Terry, Joe, and Chrissy, I am so sorry. Scott was a good man. From ripping my bandaids off really fast when I was a toddler to helping write my first resume, he was always there to help. His passing will be felt deep and wide.
