Robert Michael “Robbie” Ramirez

Robert (Robbie) Michael Ramirez, 39, was taken from us tragically on November 4, 2018 in Laramie, Wyoming.

Robbie was born in Laramie, Wyoming on October 16, 1979.   He graduated from Laramie High School and attended the University of Wyoming. He was actively involved in many activities throughout most of his life and when he had a passion for something, he dedicated all of his time to perfecting his skills and being the best he could be.  As an athlete, he played on competitive traveling teams in baseball and hockey.  He played soccer, snowboarded and was a life-long skateboarder. He also gave back to the community as a hockey coach and a volunteer at the skateboard park, which was a highlight of his recent years.  Robbie had a knack for all things creative; from making clay beads with Beavis and Butthead on them to becoming a potter and most recently an aspiring cobbler.  He had a love for the musical arts; he sang with the LHS choir in Carnegie Hall in 1999 and played classical guitar as an adult.  But his deepest love was for his White Ford Ranger, which he would talk about endlessly if you let him.

He will be remembered for his kind soul, contagious smile and laughter, his witty sense of humor, playfulness, and his ability to break anything he ever borrowed from friends and family.

He is survived by his grandmother, Doris Bunn-Manfull, mother, Debra Hinkel, father, James Ramirez (Patty), brother, Randal Ramirez (Cia), sister Robyn Ramirez (Mike Howe), step sisters, Haley Ragland (Levi), and Megan Ehnle (Ryan Frizzle) stepbrother, Matthew Ehnle, nine nieces and nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His memorial service/celebration of life will be held Sunday, November 11 at 1pm at the Elks Lodge in Laramie.

Donations can be made to Robbie’s Project at Uniwyo FCU.

Robbie was the best! Always open and loving with me and my family.

The support he gave the community as we tackled skatepark expansion was amazing. Always there when called, always working hard for the goal. He knew his limits and managed himself perfectly. Never upset and never angry when he didn’t land a trick, he knew that wasn’t what it was about. He was always happy to roll alone or with friends. Through all his troubles, and our crazy schemes at the park, he was always someone to rely on. Once he got it, he took it and pushed everyone around him with his effort and his smile.

Every couple of days my son wears the beaded necklace Robbie made him for Christmas. When we asked him recently why he likes it so much he said “I don’t like it, I love it!” Pure Robbie simple on the outside with untold depths. Robbie, quite to a fault at times, but once you got him talking he could really get into it on music, skating, cars, hobbies and life. Steady and reliable, true to his word with grace and style to match.

A tender soul with a big beautiful heart!

Ever thankful to have known you and to have your support in some of my most trying adventures.
Love you buddy.

Debbie and Family, We loved having Robbie, Randy and Robyn in our home (Yurths). Robbie was such a happy, funny friend to our sons, Evan, Aaron and Nathan when we lived in Laramie (1994 to 1997). And man, could he put away the food. We enjoyed his unique personality at your cabin, our cabin, skiing, football games at the University and the Vedauwoo. Our boys enjoyed spending time in your home too. He and Robyn helped Evan and Aaron through some really hard times as newcomers to Laramie. We are shocked and heartbroken with you at his illness and his untimely loss. -Martin and Christie Yurth-

I am so sorry to all of Robbie’s family. Knowing Robbie was a blessing. He had a wonderful smile, he was nice to everyone, and he was just fun to be around. Despite his hardships, it seems that he thrived, even as an adult. I wish I had known him then. Being his friend in junior high and high school was a privilege. Randy, Robyn, and Debbie (and the rest of the family), I am so sorry this happened. He will be missed by so many people. I will never forget that wonderful smile!

Debbie and family; Sending my deepest condolences for your loss. I had the privilege of coaching Robbie for his beginning years in hockey. How i enjoyed the enthusiasm those boys had for the sport as they endured the freezing cold in the outdoor facility Laramie had at that time. He will always be remembered as one of my hockey boys. May God’s perpetual light shine upon him. Sincerely Jeff & Teri Frazier

Debbie, Randy, Robin. I am so sorry for the loss of your loved one. I just can’t imagine what you are going through. I remember Robbie growing up on the ice rink. He could really skate and play the puck in hockey. He loved wearing his green hockey coat. I remember watching him practice with UW. I believe he was a bright child and vert creative. My children were also saddened by this loss. They used to play foot hockey with Ross at the Rink. May the memories help lessen the sorrow that we feel. Blessings to you.
