Paul Eugene Vasquez

Paul Eugene Vasquez was born January 18, 1962  in Rock Springs, Wyoming. After suffering from a lengthy chronic illness, he peacefully entered into Eternal Rest on March 25, 2023 in Laramie, Wyoming.

Paul met his beloved wife, Ida, on July 11, 1981, when he asked her to dance. They married on June 23, 1984. Paul and Ida were blessed with children, welcoming Julian, Thomas, and Maria  in the first 6 years of their marriage.

During their marriage, Paul and Ida were faced with many hardships, losing two children to miscarriage and a son, Christopher.

As a husband and father, Paul’s life was spent caring for his family. He was an avid outdoorsman, teaching his sons to hunt and fish. Paul was a hardworking man, handy and capable.  He remodeled their family home, involving the kids in everything he did. Although Paul was known as a quiet, reserved man, those closest to him were familiar with his wit and sarcasm.

Paul’s true joy in life came with the births of his 6 grandchildren, Brooklynne, Everlynne, Asher, Noah, Aiden, and Emilia. As their Papa, he attended every birthday party, played with the kids, and relished in celebrating holidays with them.

As Paul’s illness progressed, Ida and Paul’s family dedicated their time to caring for him. Paul and Ida relied on strength from the Lord to carry their cross in confronting the end of Paul’s life. In these trials, they were brought closer in their marriage, each developing a renewed appreciation for each other. She was by his side until his last breath.

Paul was preceded in death by his three unborn children, his parents, José Horacio and Delfina Vasquez, two infant siblings, and numerous extended family.

Paul is survived by his wife, Ida, children Julian, Thomas (Whitney), and Maria (Jake), six grandchildren, siblings Betty (David), Eloy (Desiree), Helen (Frank), and Joseph (Vivian), Uncles Jim Armijo and Silviano (Olivia) Sanchez, Aunts Socorro (Epimeño) Leyba and Felicita Velasquez, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation and viewing will be held at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home Friday, March 31, 2023 from 4-6 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 6 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the Rosary. The Funeral Liturgy will take place on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 1 p.m. at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church. Internment and luncheon to follow.
