K.L. Ebbeka

K.L. Ebbeka, 80, a long-time Laramie resident, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 13, after fighting COPD for several years.

He was born December 28, 1936, in Hanna, Wyo., and worked as a Maintenance of Way laborer on the Union Pacific Railroad, mostly in Albany County, retiring with 44 years of service.  Some of the things he enjoyed doing after retirement were his “morning coffee club” that met at McDonalds, keeping up with his friends on the railroad, and always seeing the steam engines when they came through town.

K.L. is survived by his daughter, Kari (Roger) Morandi, Salt Lake City, Utah, son Chuck Ebbeka, Sheridan, Wyo., and a very special, loving friend, Carol Crain, Laramie. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his grandson, Nick Morandi – they both had the same sense of humor and loved their phone calls with each other.

There will be a celebration of life/birthday party where his friends will be able to meet and tell stories. Some of his reminisces about his years on the railroad will be available to read. Please come to the Eppson Center for Seniors, 1560 N. 3rd Street, Dec. 28, at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers or other gifts, K.L.’s family suggests a donation to the wonderful Hospice of Laramie where his peaceful transition took place, or a donation to the charity of your choice.
