Jason Avery Sheen, age 56, of Laramie, passed away on May 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Jason was born on December 20, 1969, in Laramie to Ronnie Dean Sheen and Charlene Diane Rasmussen. Laramie was not only where Jason was born, but the place he proudly called home his entire life. He built a life grounded in hard work, loyalty, adventure, and the people he loved most.
Jason dedicated nearly 40 years to working as a mechanic and spent more than 20 years as the owner of Gem Auto Service. He was respected for his skill in building custom vehicles, performing alignments, and his ability to fix just about anything placed before him. Exceptionally creative and resourceful, Jason was always designing, sketching ideas, and building projects with his hands. He took immense pride in his work, valued honesty and dedication, and never hesitated to help someone in need. Through the years, he built lifelong friendships and a reputation for generosity and craftsmanship.
Outside of work, Jason embraced life fully. He loved working on projects with his son, Avery, spending time in the mountains, camping, four-wheeling in his Land Cruiser, traveling, attending concerts, watching movies, and listening to the Eagles on repeat and Mötley Crüe turned up loud. He was a proud member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
More than anything, Jason loved his family. He was a devoted husband to Denise, his partner in life, adventure, and laughter. Together, they built a life filled with friendship, memories, road trips, music, and the simple moments that mattered most. Jason adored his son, Avery, and treasured every moment spent teaching him, building things together, and sharing his love for the outdoors and mechanics. His family was the center of his world, and he was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved.
Jason deeply cherished his large extended family and especially treasured time spent with his little sister, Sara, his first “partner in crime”; his brother Josh, who spent over twenty-five years working beside him at Gem Auto; and his dad, who was always there to offer a helping hand. He had a gift for making everyone feel like family. He never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. Whether he was telling stories, making people laugh, lending a hand, or gathering with friends and family, Jason brought warmth, humor, and energy wherever he went. His larger-than-life personality, quick wit, loyal heart, and unforgettable sense of humor will be cherished always by those who knew and loved him.
Jason is survived by his wife, Denise; his son, Avery; his father, Ron; his stepmother, Donna; his sister, Sara, and her sons, Colin and Cooper; his brother, Joshua and his wife Sarah, and son Pax; his brother, Sheldon; and his mother-in-law, Sue Nelson. He was preceded in death by his mother, Charlene Moree, and his father-in-law Larry Nelson.
A memorial service honoring Jason’s life will be held at the Laramie Elks Lodge at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 6, 2026 with a celebration of life following.
