James V. Knight

James Vincent (Jim, Cub) Knight, 3/7/1946-7/6/2022, a native of Laramie, died peacefully in Loveland, Colorado after a long illness. Jim leaves his daughter, Joleen Knight and granddaughter Kaia Knight, of Seattle, son James (Jimmy) Mora (married to Jesica Mora), granddaughter Breann Lujan May (married to Derek May), granddaughter Angelina Mora, grandson Antonio Mora, and great-grandsons Zyaire May and Quintavious May, all of Laramie. Jim was born in Laramie, son of Michael and Geraldine Knight, and brother to Gerald Knight (Lakewood CO), Maureen MacMillan (Omaha NE), Dennis Knight (Denver CO), Kathleen Goodnough (Logan UT), Michael Knight (Laramie), and Timothy Knight, deceased. He also leaves 59 nieces and nephews.

Jim’s service in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War took him around the world. He worked at various times for Laramie Motors, the Albany County School District, and St. Laurence O’Toole Church in Laramie. He earned his life-long nickname “Cub” as a student at Laramie High School, and was well known and loved for his hard work and friendly, enthusiastic ways. He was especially noted for his ability to connect to people, especially children, and make them feel valued.  Jim was an adventurer who loved to “get lost.” He was a connoisseur of music, especially Blues. If anyone ever needed anything, you could count on Jim. He was a rock to his family and community.  Services on Saturday, July 30th at St. Laurence O’Toole Catholic Church in Laramie (Rosary at 9:30, Mass at 10:00). A memorial will be at The Library restaurant on Friday, July 29th, from 5 to 8 pm.

I met Jim in the Laramie Cribbage League. Over the years we were partners for many, many games. He always had a smile and a great hello when I would see him. Our dubious cribbage claim to fame was that in one game we lost by 60 points! Rest well Jim.

So sorry to have heard about “Cub”. Would take his shirt off for you. Say “Hi” to Dad! He really liked you! I do too! Hope family begins to recover as I know it’s rough. I’ll see ya later!

Condolences to Jimmy’s family. He will be greatly missed by many. Always had a smile on his face and was so friendly. Enjoyed an afternoon with him while listening to Carl’s band. RIP my friend.
