James “Jim” Moulton

James (Jim) Lee Moulton, 62, of Laramie, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at home. He was born June 7, 1954 in Laramie, Wyoming to Clarence and Mary (Maxfield) Moulton. Jim grew up in Laramie and married his high school sweetheart, Judy (Gearhart) Moulton on February 10, 1973 in Laramie.

Jim enlisted in the Wyoming National Guard right out of high school. He started his career working at the coal mine in Hanna before the family moved back to Laramie. He worked for J&W Automotive then worked at the University of Wyoming Animal Science Livestock Center for nearly 20 years before health forced him to change directions. He worked for Bird-O’Donnell Construction for a few years, however he eventually returned to the University of Wyoming, where he retired from in 2015. He then took a brief position as the Facilities Manager at Developmental Preschool & Day Care Center for a year where he loved walking into a classroom and hearing the kids call him “Grandpa”.

Jim and Judy assumed the ranch that Judy grew up on just outside of Laramie, and you could find him in the hayfield every summer. He enjoyed his small cattle herd. However, his most favorite past time was spending time in the mountains, hunting and fishing.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Judy, his two children, Justin Moulton of Anchorage, AK and Jaime Stine (Robert) of Laramie, his grandchildren, Ashley Moulton of Cincinnati, OH and Tyler and Trew Stine of Laramie. He is also survived by his sister, Karen Smith (Steve) of Bowie, TX, his brother Randy Moulton (Pam) of Livermore, CO, his sister-in-law, Gwendy Jensen (Dale) of Arizona City, AZ, and his aunt, cousins, nephews and many friends.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Montgomery-Stryker Funeral Home with Pastor Wes White, officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Meredith and Jeannie Ray Cancer Center at Ivinson Memorial Hospital, 255 N. 30th, Laramie, WY 82072.

Some years ago when Jaime and Ali were ‘Queening’ we became so close to Jim and Judy. We were like family then and I have such fond memories of those days back then. Such good times. Justin and Jamie are going to miss their Dad so much. Jim was a wonderful and caring man, who loved his family dearly. Our prayers are with you and may God wrap his arms around you all for comfort at this time.

Went to school with both Jim and Judy. Jim was a good friend thru both junior and senior high. Kind of lost sight of them after High school. Know he was a great partner for Judy but a great person and loved life to the fullest. Will miss him.

Our family will continue to hold you in our thoughts and prayers Judy, Justin and Jamie! Jim was a man of great character, filled with compassion, love and kindness. I will never forget the influence he has had on our family and our hearts are sad, but knowing he is free to explore his passions of the outdoors looking down on us is a great comfort. Love you all and we will hold you near to our hearts. Rob, Rhyley and Andi.
