Herman Frank Teichert, 97, of Las Vegas, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025. He was born on September 25, 1927, in Madrid, Nebraska, to Herman H. and Waunetta Teichert. In 1941 at the age of 14, his family relocated to Cheyenne, Wyoming.
Herman enlisted in the United States Navy on July 13, 1945, at 18 years old, and was stationed in San Diego, California. During his time in the Navy, his girlfriend, Melba Jeanne Mize-Gale, traveled by bus to California to marry him. Due to the age restrictions for marriage, the couple wed in Yuma, Arizona, on April 20, 1947, when Herman was 19 and Melba was 17.
The newlyweds settled in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where Herman began his career as a mechanic, quickly earning a reputation as one of the most skilled in the state. His work was so highly regarded that people from surrounding states sought out his services. In 1966, he was transferred to Laramie, Wyoming, to help open a satellite branch of his employer’s repair shop. A few years later, he opened his own business on Grand Avenue, eventually expanding to include a Chrysler and Subaru dealership.
Herman was an avid golfer and bowler. Until the age of 95, he played golf whenever he could, enjoying 18 holes as often as possible. He was also active in local bowling leagues during the winter months.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Melba, as well as their daughter, Barbara Kay; son, Donald Lee; his parents, Herman and Waunetta; and his sister, Beverly Aldridge.
Herman is survived by his sister, Darlene Evans; daughter, Patricia Ann (Jamie Einbund); grandchildren, Lindsay Nicole Simpson, Pamela Dawn Redman (Kevin), Kacie St. George, Jimmie Einbund (Becka); and daughter Pam Teichert; and grandsons Shane Harris (Tammy) and Kale Harris (Arlene). He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Garrett, Dakodus, Daven, Seth, Emma, Scarlett, Brentlie, Ryker and Lexie; and his new puppy Buddy.
A memorial service will be held July 7, 2025 at 2pm at The American Legion, 417 E. Ivinson Avenue, Laramie, Wyoming.

To all of Herms family and friends, my deepest condolences. The last time I saw Herm was at the American Legion in Laramie, I was dropping off a flag for my Dad, Arlowe Hulett. Was a wonderful surprise to see Herm and get in a lil visit and a good hug. He was a real gentleman and I’ll hold very fond memories of him in my heart forever.

Oh no, we have lost a good man. Herm lived next door and was an ideal neighbor who made sure to trim branches on his trees and bushes whenever they grew over into my yard. We will miss my friend.

Herman sold us our first Subaru. He was a great mechanic and a good man. Our deepest sympathy to you all at this time. You are in our thoughts.
