Geri Lynn Miller

Geri Lynn (Doyle) Miller passed away November 29, 2017, in Laramie. She was born                May 2, 1962, to James and Margaret (Slipke) Doyle. With her passing, the Miller and Doyle families lost one of their finest and one of their favorites.

Geri Lynn was one of the “little girls” when she lived in North Platte, Nebraska, where she was born, graduated from St. Patrick’s High School and attended Mid-Plains Community College, which her father was instrumental in establishing.

A few short years after graduating from college, the “best thing” that ever happened began with her marriage to Steve Miller. The “best thing” extended for 25 years before her passing, and the love of that “best thing” produced Benjamin Miller, now an excelling honor student at the University of Wyoming.

Geri Lynn was an exceptional employee wherever she worked. She received many commendations and much recognition for her diligence, attention to detail, and unceasing dedication to excellence. She was employee of the year for one of the nation’s largest post-secondary education programs. Most importantly, she was the “soul mate” and promoter of her co-workers and supervisors at WyoTech.

Caring for and raising Boxers were among Geri Lynn’s many talents. She rescued many Boxers, each of which became her “shadow.”

Geri Lynn was especially proud of her husband and best friend, Steve, and their son, Benjamin. In recent years, Steve and Geri Lynn began traveling and mountain biking all over the United States,

Geri Lynn’s mother and her father and Steve’s mother and father all passed away before her. In addition to Steve and Benjamin, Geri’s life is celebrated by her brothers-in-law Terry and Donella Miller and Doug and Laura Miller, and sisters Karen and Tim O’Conner, Julie Ann and Mike Sullivan, Kathleen O and Scott McConnell, the brother they call Jimmie and Patricia Doyle, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved Aunt Jean and Uncle Clem Matter, Aunt Donna Slipke, Aunt Gloria Jean Slipke, and many very close and loved cousins.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 at the First Christian Church of Laramie. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church.

Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Central Time Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte, Nebraska

Memorials are suggested to Laramie Animal Welfare Society and Fisher House Foundation, a veterans support foundation.

My deepest condolences to the Geri Doyle Miller family. We want to Saint Paris Jr Sr High school together, and she always had a smile on her face. I remember watching the volleyball and basketball games, and she was awesome. God has now another angel amongst him in heaven. She will be missed. —Christine Deatrich, Cheyenne WY.

Dear Steve and Benjamin: Our hearts go out to you and your families. Robert was able to visit with Geri Lynn on a number of occasions in Sheridan and during walks at Undine Park in Laramie where she enjoyed talking about her family, her work, and the devotion to the boxer dogs your family rescued. Geri Lynn was a very kind and caring person. She will be missed by many.
