Gail Floyd Fluty

On April 10th 2017, Gail Fluty, age 91, went to be with our Father in Heaven. His son Mike continually assured Gail that the bass will now be able to swim and relax knowing that Gail won’t be there to catch them.

Gail was born in York Nebraska, with a golf club in one hand and a fishing pole in the other.  He was a sports enthusiast, he competed in basketball, track, football, and loved the old pool halls.  Once out of High School he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Bundy where he was assigned as a Loader on a 5”gun.  Gail sailed the South Pacific while serving his country during WWII.  Gail was proud of his service and what the experience taught him.

Gail will be remembered as someone who was an excellent role model as a father. Gail loved being a father more than anything, Gail’s quick wit and his personality made him so fun and easy to love.  Never knowing what Gail was going to do or say next made being around him quite the adventure.  On one occasions upon arrival at his house he was seen stalking moles around pine trees, holding a shot gun, wearing an oversized fishing hat, polyester pants, suspenders over a loud salmon shirt, yelling the “traps are not working!! “

Gail had a strong sense in paying your debts, taking responsibility both good and bad, laughing every day, and always at the grocery store looking for someone that needed you to buy their groceries.  We ask that while shopping, in honor of Gail, donate something to somebody and always be kind.

Gail was preceded in Death by the love of his life, Bernice Fluty, a daughter, Susan Fluty, Mother and Father Charles and Verna Fluty.

Gail is survived by his Sister Barbra (Chart) Yeoman, favorite son and daughter in law, Mike and Reggie Fluty.  Combined Grandchildren: Chris (Nellie) Fluty, Jamie (Joey) Purcell. Tashina (Tyrel) Lemons,  Cassidy (Jake) Ohnstad and Danielle Prahl.  Great grandchildren are :Selina and Ryia Fluty, Calen Putman, Dakota Purcell,  Kaden York, Benjamin Ohnstad, Killian Lemons.  Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Private Services to be held in Honor of Gail’s request.

The family would like to thank the VA in Cheyenne the Hospice section, the Amazing Nurses and CNA’s that took care of Gail with compassion, and the men he made friends with, thank you for making his journey just a little easier.

Mike and family, I am so truly sorry for your loss. Your dad certainly was one of the good guys. Everytime I ran into him he was always bigger than life. Probably already up in heaven with a 9-iron, I hope my dad is showing him the way. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mike and Family, I am sorry to hear that Gail has passed. The last time we saw him was down at the Elk’s having dinner quite some time ago. He of course, had a big smile on his face and something humorous to say, which was his way. I always appreciated the friendship our parents had in earlier years and remember your parents so fondly; they were wonderful people.

I loved the short time I had the pleasure of taking care of Gail. I enjoyed the nights I got to sit and enjoy a meal with him and of course we had to have a cookie or two and a glass of milk.

I will sure miss Gail. Mike have to tell you something funny, that happened many years ago. My mom ran the bowling alley snack bar, your dad got things to eat, gave my mom a check, will the bank sent back the check to my mom.He signed it You Got Stuck, in the same manner he wrote he’s name. So Funny!! I enjoyed working for your folks at the Frostop Drive-In. My thoughts are with all of you.

Oh Mikey, I just found out. Gail was our “adopted” second dad and your mom as well. I will always remember his deep laugh, the antics with the salamander races, the picnics, his killer sense of humor, and his loving and open door policy to all of us Malody kids. What a great and generous man. My heartfelt condolences to all of your remaining family. He will be missed by many.
