Florence McClure died peacefully at Ivinson Memorial Hospital July 2, 2016 at the age of 92 after a brief illness. She was born in Ft. Pierce, Florida to Eula Belle and Cicero Hilliard. Florence attended her hometown schools and later attended business college in Jacksonville, FL. She married, had three children and later divorced. She worked many jobs but most enjoyed being part of the school lunch program as she continued to support and raise her children on her own. From those modest beginnings she and her sister, Petie Brewer joined their parents when they started a family business, Hilliard Groves and Gift Shop on US Highway 1, Ft. Pierce, FL, selling and shipping citrus all over the United States to their loyal customers.
Upon the passing of their parents Florence and her sister Petie Brewer and their families sold the citrus business, combined their resources and purchased the Bar 11 Ranch west of Laramie, fulfilling their desire to raise their families in the west.
During that time she was very active member of the Albany County Cowbelles.
After some years Florence sold her interest in the ranch, moved into Laramie and in 1978 was instrumental in establishing a family business, McClure Home Decorating. She was a charter member of the Gem City Lioness Club for many years. Florence retired and sold her part of the business in 1988 but continued to promptly report for work until the family business sold to Carpet One Commercial Flooring of Cheyenne in 2004.
Throughout her life Florence had a passion for the outdoors and loved going to the mountains brookie fishing in the Snowy Range or walleye fishing at Glendo and other reservoirs. She loved to spend time at the family cabin enjoying all the wild flowers, hummingbirds and wildlife. She loved going to the Rec Center and being in the pool where she continued to make many new friends. She also enjoyed the Eppson center and looked forward to the monthly birthday dinners.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Viola (Petie) and husband Bill Brewer and nephews Sam and Joe Brewer.
She is survived by her children, John “Mick” McClure (Carol), Mike McClure (Marie), and Ginger Taylor (Wayne) all of Laramie; three grandchildren, Alicia McClure, Cory Taylor, and Tiffany Taylor and one brand new great grandchild, Laeya Taylor. She is also survived by the Chitwood family, Elaine and Candace McClure all of Dalton, GA, her life-long friend Susie Carlton and family of Fort Pierce, FL are and Tome and Penny Brewer and family of SanTan, AZ.
It was her request for no services as well as her wish to be scattered among the beautiful fall aspens in a private family memorial in Morgan, WY.
Florence always remarked about how blessed her life was and how fortunate she was to have seen so much of this beautiful country.
In lieu of flowers the family requested memorial contributions to be made to Hospice of Laramie 710 Garfield #339 Laramie, WY 82070.

Mick, we are understanding of your sudden loss of your Mother, Florence, and the accompanying sadness for you and family and friends. Although we did not personally know Florence, we probably knew her a bit through you being a such a fine man and acquaintance to our family. Our condolences to the entire McClure family! I so enjoyed visiting with Florence back in the days when I use to sell and design their advertising for McClure Home Decorating! She always welcomed me with her sweet smile! What a great long life she had! Cindy & Kevin Keller

Florence was such a beautiful lady, always cheerful (even when the pool was too cold) . My prayers go to all of her family and friends, may you take comfort with each other.

Mike, Mick, and Ginger — Just today (July 14) I noticed that your mother has passed from this life to the next. Her smiling photo reminded me of how pleasant it was to go into the McClure flooring store over the years — always a warm welcome from all of you. We seldom realize at the time what a difference a smile or kind word makes on our life journey, but those things are lasting in our hearts.
