Courtney (‘Rocky’) Gregor Westhoff, age 50, of Laramie, Wyoming was welcomed home by Jesus on May 20th, 2022 after a seven-and-a-half year battle with brain cancer.
Courtney was born in Ada, Oklahoma on September 2nd, 1971, to Jim and Mary Westhoff. He was the middle child of three siblings. He spent the first 2 years of his life in Norman, Oklahoma and the next 7 years in Vicksburg, Mississippi before moving to Laramie, Wyoming in 1980. Courtney was a pistol who hardly ever sat idle. He enjoyed being outside, working with his hands, and belting out his favorite songs. At a young age his interests involved planning and executing mass mischief with his older brother, Jason. As he grew, his hand-eye coordination and unparalleled physical strength made him an incredible athlete. Courtney enjoyed playing soccer, practicing martial arts (among other fighting styles), and lifting weights. He couldn’t resist the allure of a fast motorcycle, but he preferred quiet moments among the pines while skiing, snowshoeing, and fishing. He found beauty and inspiration all around him and was an accomplished artist —pen and paper his medium. He was a life-long learner and a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy. He revered his daughter, Brenna, as his greatest accomplishment of all. He lived wholly, loved without abandon, and knew the Lord Jesus as his own. He is, as he always was, chasing his next greatest adventure.
Courtney is survived by his daughter, Brenna (Westhoff) Marshall, her husband, Duncan, and their children, Brooke and Bode of Lawrence, Kansas; his parents, James (‘Jim’) (formerly of Glasgow, Missouri) and Mary (Corbin) Westhoff (formerly of Ada, Oklahoma) of Laramie, Wyoming; his brother Jason Westhoff and his partner Shannon Brewer of Rapid City, South Dakota; his sister, Jamie (Westhoff) Stretch, her husband, Scot, and their children, Isaac and Ella of Frederick, Colorado; his aunts and uncles, Rita Westhoff of Platte City, Missouri and her daughters Lori and Kim, Gary and Suzanne Westhoff of St. Peters, Missouri and their children Amy, Brett, and Molly, Jan (Westhoff) Trokey of Wright City, Missouri and her children Shelby and Wesley, Bill and Jan Corbin of Gladewater, Texas and their son, Stewart, Lee and Virginia (‘Tony’ Corbin) Flowers of Tulsa, Oklahoma and their daughter Marie; and his many many friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Clement and Fern (Wilkerson) Westhoff of Gladewater, Missouri, Carlton and Virginia (Walton) Corbin and Geneva Corbin of Ada, Oklahoma; his uncle Jerry Westhoff of Kansas City, Missouri; his cousin Corbin Flowers of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and several good friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 3rd at 10:30am at First Christian Church in Laramie. Reception will immediately follow at the same location.
Courtney and his family would like to thank the Albany County first responders, including the EMTs, firefighters, and police officers, as well as the staff, doctors, and nurses at Ivinson Memorial Hospital for their compassion, care, and commitment to the safety and well-being of Courtney and his family.
Courtney entered the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming late on the night of March 12th, 2022. He left at 7:05am on May 20th, 2022 in the care of our Lord. For 9 weeks and 6 days, Courtney received exemplary care at the hands of their nurses and staff. Courtney and his family would like to thank them for the way they ministered to their hearts, cared for their physical needs, and guided them with compassion and love through this difficult journey.

We are so sorry for your loss. Courtney was such as wonderful spirit. My favorite memory of him was how he knew every word to the music from “Beauty and the Beast” and could preform the part of Lumiere at any given moment. I’m so sad to hear of Courtney’s passing. I have spoken to him a few times over the last few years. I know he’s helped many in their journey and I’m thankful for him, his friendship, and kindness.

I never new what was coming out of your mouth next! You get that gleam and knew something was going on in your brain! Always had something to say about everything and it was always funny. Courtney was one of my BEST friends when I lived in Laramie. I’ve thought about the best word to describe him and decided on two, “laughter and Protection.” Courtney ALWAYS had me laughing and I felt so protected with him regardless of what crazy we got into. Two memories to share: first is going to visit him at his apartment on 9th street and just hanging out on the couch (that no decent human should probably of sat on) at all hours and just laughing and laughing. Second is him sitting by the front door of the bar on 3rd and Grand with his HUGE cowboy hat on, keeping a keen eye on all in the bar and any fool who tried to get in and cause trouble. Courtney, you were a true treasure who had a heart of gold, always made us laugh and protected those you loved. Peace be with you and your amazing family.

My heart goes out to the family. Courtney was like a fixture in our house when he, Jason and Matt were hanging out. I am glad I have those fun memories of those boys laughing in the kitchen, watching tv and bugging me for food. Courtney always had a big hug for me whenever he saw me. He will be missed.
